I do a radio show on a local community station. It has one direct drive turntable. The turntable has no cue lever. I’m over 60 now and cueing especially between tracks can be a challenge. Can anyone suggest a simple, cheap, generic add on that I can attach to the plinth to make life easier ?
To me it should be should be simple it is a function that is totally separate and independent of the tone arm. Even a suction cup should be enough to secure it to the plinth. The turntable plinth has a quite a chinks so I am open to a more permanent method of affixing too.
Hmmm… this kind of thing was a popular accessory 40 or 50 years ago, but the market for turntable accessories dried up by the early 90s.
I’d suggest eBay is your best bet.
I admire your fortitude in providing such a great music service – I’m a listener too!
But if I was taking my own, often irreplaceable, vinyl to the studio to play on air as you do, I’d ask the station to stump up and invest in a decent modern turntable!
Either that or play the vinyl at home on my own kit and stream the output to the studio?
The DP-75 was near the top of the Denon turntable tree. The platter is decoupled from the base and motor by a series of springs and dampers. A broadcast standard unit found in many studios.
Hand cueing on a unipivot tonearm can be (always is!) a pain in the proverbial, however.
Yes Foxy , you’d think. But, they are broke, most query the need for a turntable at all – who plays records? The techies have kept the stylus “ fresh” and as Fents says the unit itself is good enough.
Streaming from home would be fine but I’m not set up for it and their system doesn’t do Apple and I’m exclusively Apple. Also I couldnt do the wind back and quick start that the Denon does.
As I said you’d think the device would be simple enough and as a result cheap enough even if low demand these days.

Yeah that sorta thing. I was hoping for a fair bit less than 80USD plus postage to Oz.
Bit more searching needed, then! 🙂
