As some around here will know, I have a tendency to curate CD box sets for labels, with original artists directly involved. Towards one (for me, particularly thrilling) project I’ve recently been exchanging emails, after a bit of sleuthing, with a German radio station around the licensing of a concert from 1972. The station has the master audio but maddeningly cannot license it because some paperwork is missing. Take it as read that I will continue to explore pragmatic solutions with the station.
Plan B is where I need someone’s help.
I’d like to access purportedly the best/most complete of several surviving off-air versions of the concert. I have a splendid 75-minute version (for reference only) in low-spec file format from one bootleg site and two or three shorter edits are also floating around. One poster at Trader’s Den has what looks like a near-complete 89-minute version personally sourced from cassette recorded back in the day, and in FLAC. This would be good enough from which to restore/master.
I’ve messaged the fellow but he seems to have quit TD 2-3 years back. I just don’t have the will / ability / time to figure out how TD works, in order to download it myself. Is anyone here a member and willing to access this concert for me? (I don’t believe it’s on DIME or elsewhere.) It would be licensed directly from the band members concerned – direct payment to the people who performed.

I have some musical pals who frequent such ‘moody’ places of the internet, Colin. PM me what you want and I’ll ask them.

Ah, splendid…

I’m a member. How may I be of assistance?
Colin H says
I think Fenton has it in hand, Humpster. Hopefully so!

I wouldn’t be so sure – I’ve asked some dodgy mates to have a look, but no reply as yet.
Mr__Hump says
Consider me on the subs bench then.
fentonsteve says
I think it is me who is on the subs bench.

If Mr H is not available I was rather surprised to find I am still a member of Traders Den despite not having frequented its dark corners for many a year. (Actually, it’s not dark at all in there – just collectors seeking Graham Parker’s first gig at the Dog&Bone, Hackney 1971)

I have an account there @Colin-h so drop me a DM with details of what you’re looking for and I’ll have a look-see.
