Oh, “apartment” is it. Later on I’ll be bedding down in a bijoux self-catering property called “le bus shelter”, after getting kicked out of the plush hotel known as “le maison du doss”. Temps are dure, bro.
After hitching a lift once I was dropped off in a small village in the late hours. I curled up in a phone box, not very comfy but I had a bedside phone.
45 euros a night. When we walked in the room hadn’t been cleaned, tissues and hair on the bed, yuk! Phoned the owners and in my most Fluide of French demanded satisfaction. Two minutes later she arrived, moved us downstairs to the luxury suite (La Gare) and handed over a bottle of Corbière’s finest. No wonder I got Wordle in one this morning
In this context “getting a wordle in one” sounds like a terrible euphemism akin to “dropping an anchor”.

I’ve slept in a phone box. Many years ago, coming back from a party in A-level years.
Well that’s two of us.

You’re a bunch of Fotherington-Tomases, frankly. I hitch-hiked to Turkey (as far as I got to the Mystic East at that time) and back, not spending a single night in a bed. Nor a phone box.

Caves are commoner out in those foreign parts.
Based on the available evidence, I think it’s fair to say that Wordle is a game for squares.*

I do Wordle on my iPad in bed at night that`s why most of my postings are in the very early hours. I will post my attempts later for your amusement because I don`t have the iPad at hand. I can only remember my first propper attemt: HOVER.
For obvious reasons the answer came to mind for what would have been my second propper attempt but it`s not a feckin` word is it? Only the feckin` Yanks……..

I bet it was Gary’s use of the word “gekko” that threw you? He never could spell
actually I didn’t see that one until I came back, if I had I would have got it in one. I was too European in my thinking – mouse, louse, vixen, etc

Our local gecko is called the Native House Gecko (Gehyra dubia), unimaginatively enough. Also known as Dubious dtella. They’re supposed to rid your house of cockroaches, but they don’t do a great job.
I like having them around the house. They’re decorative. And anything that kills mozzies gets a gold star in my book. Plus I love the way they seem to think that if they stay perfectly still you can’t see them.
Decoration factor diminishes with size – you wouldn’t want the hefty bastards that leap about in the attic on your parlour wall.
It’s very possible we have a python in our attic – we found a shed skin in the bathroom extractor fan – so that will take care of any amount of bastards I imagine. Until it nods off, anyway.
