It’s my privilege to christen this spanking new website with its first AC/DC thread. I think you’ll all agree that since the last site went down, the boys have enjoyed the international spotlight for rather mixed reasons. Phil’s Rudd arrest for nefarious activities and all sorts of revelations about Malcolm’s illness with dementia have kept them in the headlines.
Angus and Brian have fronted a quite extraordinary public relations and media campaign to keep the AC/DC juggernaut on the road with the release of a new record and generate publicity for a forthcoming tour.
I’ve got my ticket for the pitch at Wembley in July to see the boys and I do hope you some of the rockers amongst you will be there too. Here they are with one of their cracking new tunes. Turn it right up!

Sorry – It’s got to be Bon for me

I’m with Steerpike. With Bon they were fab. With Brian they are unlistenable. I heard most of the new album in Fopp last year. The rhythm section are still great, but the singing (v tempted to use scare quotes here) is worse than ever and the songs are rubbish.
I’ll get me coat.

I’m not sure about the “new” band, to be frank.
I bookended my love of Accadacca with Doningtons 1984 and 2010. I was too young to see Bon in his pomp.
I love some Bon stuff and I love some Brian stuff. They’re quite different though.

For the past 35 years I have been referring to Brian as “The new bloke” so it’s Bon all the way for me

Welcome back! Never put in at the old site. I’ll have a bash. Being in Oz, I saw DACK on bandstand doing High Voltage. I would’ve been 6 or 7. Bon and Angus were akin to seeing Spiderman. “Who are those guys?! They looked nothing like Dads mates at church. Similar experience with Pistols and KISS. As a kid under the daily shit fest that was school with a bone problem and “crazy feet” Knowing what was out there was a huge boost. Then I saw The Kids are Alright and was ruined for life, thank Buddha. Since Malcolm Young got crook and Phil Rudd took Dirty Deeds to heart. Hearing the new album sounds like my crazy old Uncles rallying around and playing cool shit. No more, no less. When they go down for good it’ll be a shocker. Whenever I hear a critic have a go, I defensively think “Yeah…but they’re ACDC?”. Well done all for the new place. Did miss it. Len from Oz.

seen this ? The lead guy plays a few chords of shook me all night long and the crowd just starts singing and drags the band along with them. The expressions are great.

I heard rumours that they’re headlining Glastonbury.

Underwhelmed by the new album – a few good tunes, but still room for a lot of filler even though it’s their shortest ever album.
Rigid Digit says
Underwhelmed too – but it I’d rather have an underwhelming AC/DC album than no album at all (although, that day will come some time in the future – just not yet).
Yes there is filler there, but even Back In Black suffers from filler (albeit top notch filler).
Two of the most, on first listening, filler-filled albums were Flick Of The Switch and Fly On The Wall.
Flick Of The Switch is one of my favourite AC/DC albums now (still not convinced by Fly On The Wall though).
One thing it ain’t is another Black Ice which I really liked, and expectations were probably too high

I regard the last three Bon albums as stone cold classics “Powerage”, “If You Want Blood” and “Highway to Hell”.
I agree the new album is rather weak, but the three tracks they released as singles – Rock or Bust, Play Ball and Rock the Blues away – are as good as anything else in the heavy rock genre during the past year.
I never really warmed to “Flick of the Switch”, and “Fly on the Wall” was the career low. From the bios I’ve read, they completely ran out of ideas during the mid 80s which explains those records. And Malcolm got rid of Mutt Lange after “For Those About to Rock”, which was generally regarded within AC/DC circles as a mistake.
Part of me can’t help thinking they should pack it in after this next tour. I’m looking at it as a sort of swansong and the Wembley gig will be my tenth time seeing them in 30 years. I reckon I’ll be saying goodbye that night.
Aside from the Stones, they’re probably the only band for which I have anything close to fan worship. It’s almost been like following a football team since I was 16. And those riffs and songs have been a soundtrack to my life through thick and thin.

I clean forgot to mention that Bon died 35 years ago today in the back of a car in East Dulwich after a night of heavy drinking. So, as a wee tribute, here’s the man in his prime at the Glasgow Apollo in 1978.
Fenderman says
There’s something about that beat, that swing that gets me every time. grrrrrr
DogFacedBoy says
Bon v Brian – yawn. It’s AC\DC. They can make people go this batshit . Job done.
Junior Wells says
Yeah but it does matter. Totally changed the personality of the band.

just another little known foot tapping acca dacca classic.
