Following on from Colin’s touching post about Sandy Denny, I’d like to record that it’s seven years since the devastating loss of Prince. Still finding it hard to process.

Musings on the byways of popular culture
On that night, the Primevals were the support for the Flamin Groovies at the CCA in Glasgow. We finished our soundcheck, and then the sound guy told us “Prince is dead”. We dedicated the greatly extended wah-wah intro to East Campbell Street to him
A tragic, shocking loss!
Seven years! Ridiculous how fast the years go!
Starting with Lemmy and claiming the lives of Bowie, TAFKATAFKAP, Rickman and many more before ending with George Michael, 2016 was one of those rare, truly dreadful years that couldn’t go fast enough
That is a beautiful song and performance I had not heard before.
His loss was massive because he still had so much more to give.
Wasn’t a fan and I’m still not a fan BUT I recognise he was an extraordinary, extremely gifted artist who passed way too soon.
My conclusion from buying up the later Prince albums that I didnt bother with, is that mediocre Prince is still pretty good and better than most.
And there are gems in there that would make other people’s careers.
We could have had another 20 years…
Yes, but personally I think the previous 20 years were in general a disappointment so not sure the next 20 would necessarily be a big improvement, but it would have been nice to have seen what he would do.
