It is rather good, and I have heard a lot of stuff through this I liked and was completely and utterly unaware of. He has (largely) very good taste in music.
I remember when they were, an intense and aREMicana radiohead at their starting posts. Strangely it is the National that remind me of them most these days, excellent musicians and a charismatic and emotional frontman. Was the debut the best? Certainly the deepest selection of songs, but I kept up for 3 or 4 albums along the way, catching live in Manchester at the turn of the century. Sort of just lost interest as Adam grew his beard.
Ah, my old friend. That debut; perfect, measured, melancholy yet celebratory, reliable in times of trouble, full of abandon when times are good. One of the last truly great rock albums made.
A great album – Remember being recommended it by someone who was in the record industry who thought I’d like it and he was right. Great time in our household too with two young kids, and it has many happy memories associated with it. Bought the second album and didn’t get on with it at all, and lost sight of them after that.
My favourite track amongst many was always this one
Me and Mrs B don’t agree 100% on too much, but this is one area where we do. Wonderful, wonderful band. Have seen them 3 times over the years, looking forward to getting another chance.
Loved the first album, didn’t go much on the second, liked the third and kind of drifted off after that. This, off that third album, is great, one of their very best.
Also, Adam Duritz once let me* in on the secret of the best way to eat MInstrels chocolates – put one on a teaspoon and hold it just below the surface of a hot mug of tea for just long enough that the chocolate inside melts but the outside remains hard and then eat. You’ll never go back.

Ooh, a new podcast…..thanks Lodey. Love Counting Crows, even if they’re not hip cool and trendy.

Must admit they have trodden water these past ten years or so but still a gem here and there and their concerts are still things of wonder and beauty.
And hey Retro, did you sleep with Jennifer Aniston – Adam and his beard did?
And Courtney!!!
I can never remember, it was all a blur
I like the `aREMicana` refference retro but please don`t bring those howlinmoaniintwats radioshyte into the the compararison.
Underrated band The Counts and worth deeper investigation.
Respectfully I submit with all due deference that you are talking out of your girl-like arse
If I had a girl-like arse I’d never leave the house (well, maybe one time to buy some mirrors…)

Despite your many critics (ignore those fools) I may, in fact, love you

25 years, eh? Thought it was a nice touch to do a silver-wedding party with The Philharmonic
25 years of Complaint Rock.
I like the first album. Everything after that I have encountered by them sounds exactly like that though.
See my polite rebuttal above

Whenever Mrs B tires of you (and she will) tell her there’s always a room for her in Chateau Wrongness
Only seen them once, at a festival. He was great and they were excellent. Alas, haven’t toured since.
Counting Crows. If they were any duller, they’d be Snow Patrol.
Never liked you, never liked The Goons, you smell
