“After he hosted a well-received personal history of Manchester music at the beginning of this month, Martin Tolcher now turns his attention to an (almost) A to Z of music from Sheffield…
26 artists, from ABC to Zongo Brigade – ‘Almost’, as there are some letters missing, but there should be plenty to entertain, inform and educate (in that order!) in this 2 hour show.

I have endeavoured to feature your requests/suggestions – including Red Guitars – so I hope you can listen, and any feedback gratefully received.
The “please listen” begging element applies to everybody else, of course!
Cool! Will certainly listen.
Huzzah!
I have next week off work (to build a garden shed to keep the bikes in) so will listen when I’m next database mangling.
I’m still perplexed how Sheffield can have Arctic Monkeys, Def Leppard, Human League, Pulp, Richard Hawley, ABC and a dozen others, while 30 miles down the road, Nottingham has Paper Lace, Jake Bugg and Ian Paice out of Deep Purple.
You’re forgetting Rob B from the Stereo MCs. That’s tipped the balance, yes?
Decorating tomorrow so this will be the soundtrack..,many thanks.
At the height of the stepladder, hey-la-hu!
@moose-the-mooche
V good. Struggling to think of a Sheffield/decorating based reply though with my painting skills we’re probably Waiting for a Miracle.
Wasn’t Glenn Gregory a painter/decorator?
He certainly sweated his youth away
Do the empty house… if you’ve got enough emulsion.
Off to the studio shortly.
I shall endeavour to “credit”/dedicate the requests and suggestions from whence received…
…Not always easy with The Afterword pseudonyms, though!
I listened to the first half last night and now the second half over breakfast this morning. Nice show, @biggles. Some favourite tunes I haven’t heard for a while (Tony Adams, Geisha Boya and Temple Girls) and some good songs I’ve not heard in decades (That Was Then This Is Now, Howzat) and plenty of delights completely new to me. The best moment, I think most people would agree, was when you mentioned me. That was brilliant. If I have any criticism it’s that I felt you could have dragged that bit out more.
Thank you @Gary.
For those who also wish to hear Gary being mentioned – and I am sure there are many – or who simply wish to listen to a programme featuring 26 songs from Sheffield artists, you can do so here:

Hope to do another one at the end of November – may go north of the border for a two city clash…
