Lou’s best album?
It’s either this, Transformer or Berlin for me.
Big point here for me is the chance to hear that amazing punch-In-the-gut sound he and hopis band pumping out on vinyl. The remastered CD and assortedbonus material is none too shabby either
3 CDs of the original album, live versions and outtakes, an in-concert DVD, and the remastered album over two vinyl albums for £45?
Fuck yeah.
When waiting with my partner to give birth in hospital, Lou appeared on The Late Show to promote this album. So when I hear this album I get a Proustian rush back to that time waiting and a very tense time.
It’s an excellent album but do I need more stuff?
Think I got it for about 60 quid, I would say it is worth it. Particularly liked the DVD, not the greatest PQ ever but I saw him on that tour where he played it in full and it was a nice reminder
Great box set for IMHO Reed’s best album.
I don’t think I paid more than £45 for this when it was released. Great box set, great value.
The RCA demos album for recent
RSD is titanically good.. Available for £20..
I have a hooky copy of the released-for-24-hours-on-iTunes files. I’m always a bit hesitant about paying top dollar for anything pressed at GZ and/or on coloured vinyl (which, thankfully, this is not). But, for £20 I’m prepared to take a punt.
And only $44 in the US – bought before they realize the error!
I think this is my fave box set of
last year2020. The 2LP is a huge improvement on the original squeeze-the-grooves-in single-LP pressing. Even the normally civilian Mrs F thinks so.Wel its purchased so we will see. Thanks for the heads up. $A 104
Having got back into vinyl in a big way of late I’ve started buying 12” albums again. Given loopy lou’s love of sonics and the terrific sound of the band on the NY CD, this was near the top of my list
Sound?
The original sounded pretty good, Lou being a geek and all.
But the original single-LP vinly squeezed 56:40 onto two sides. Not quite as tinny as Queen’s GH, but up there with 3 Feet High and Rising or Fear of a Black Planet for too-long-for-a-single-LP.
The original Jordan: The Comeback is pretty shocking.
Thankfully Katie Price wasn’t involved.
Didn’t Todd R’s initiation hold the record with some absurdly long
– 40 mins? – second side
Arrived. Sounds great and the live stuff is excellent. Mike Rathke the standout.
On balance I prefer the CDs just so I don’t have to get up to skip the stinkers. And Lou is a master of the stinker.
That rug really ties the room together…
You left the “d” out.
You devil.
………you devil!
