Picking up on something Johnny C said in another thread, over the last 6 months Photobucket seems to have become all but unusable – endless ads, click bait and pop ups, so I wonder if there is a better alternative? I don’t even mind paying (YES!) if it works, doesn’t run like a dog and doesn’t require 45 minutes to upload a pic and post the link to it. Sometimes PB is OK but more and more it drives me nuts. What do you use?

another vote for imgur
phone app too
Sometimes it doesn’t seem to render properly?
I also use imgur, just from my PC. Never had any problems with it.
Another vote for imgur. I don’t even log onto an account, I just upload the photo I want to be able to post here, and forget all about it afterwards. Why would I want to find it again?
That’s interesting because, as I said on the other thread, if I forget to log in before uploading, the photo seems to disappear to god knows where.
At times, when I’ve uploaded a new photo, I’ve been able to access photos that I’ve uploaded before. Still, it’s so easy to upload them from the computer, if I ever needed to post the same pic twice, I’d just upload it again. It’s never happened yet!
I created an account there years ago, but was never able to log in – but then I quickly realised that it wasn’t even necessary…
Yup imgur seems to work quite well here (which probably means it will fail quite soon)
Photobucket went through a sticky patch, but it seems to have improved again lately, apart from the nagging to pay them money, and that’s only once when you log on. Since I’ve only used 1% of my available free storage, i see no reason to change.
I haven’t noticed them getting better. I still have 100’s of pictures on Photobucket dating back to the old blog (and earlier) and accessing them is a nightmare. You have to negotiate a minefield of pop-ups, re-directions, screen freezes and crashes until finally you find what you’re looking for. I never upload anymore and wish I could dump everything I have there onto another site. But that would be a nightmare x 100’s
It could be faster, but I don’t see any pop-ups, screen freezes or crashes, ever. Perhaps you need to tweak your browser? I’ve got uBlock running – maybe that makes a difference.
That’s interesting. When I log into Photobucket it’s worse than the most dodgy porn site, er, so I’ve been told.
I’m still using IE, but I may try Chrome and see if it’s any better.
Well, there’s probably a reason why Chrome is the most popular browser in the world, but I gave up on it because it was such a resource hog, at least when I was uploading music to Google Play.
I use Opera, which I’m happy with. It has a built-in VPN, though no idea how effective it is. According to a fascinating graphic I found, it looks like it’s just you, Japan, S. Korea, Bermuda and the Falklands still using IE. Opera is the most popular browser in Africa; the only country in the world where Safari is most popular is Greenland.
I read that Photobucket is now asking 400 bucks a year for the privilege of posting your images on blogs or “third-party” sites. Coupled with a buggy interface and in-yer-face marketing, it’s a terrible service. Imgur is simple, quick, and the only downside is the imgur frame to posted images, which is fair enough.
Mike – check your IP address when using Opera VPN – it does work.
Flickr.
If you want a quality product and don’t mind paying, Smugmug beats seven bells out of the free sites.

I tried Imgur and within 2 minutes twats were posting troll like crap comments so I deleted the account. So, looking further afield.
You don’t need an account on imgur.

Paste in your image, copy the url here, bingo! A picture of an ill-advised prog-rock/Fray Bentos collaboration. Or whatever.
Nope, a link.
For example, here is a photo of a splendid young Peregrine falcon atop Nottingham Trent University.
Nope, error message!
Go Browse, select the pic from your computer, once it’s uploaded copy the link that appears automatically over on the right and paste it here. Please persist, it will improve the quality of your life (and mine).
Well I know Moosie. I’m sitting on a signed poster of Katy Perry with painted on clothes here. You think I’m joking!
