I don’t agree with all reviews but it is a handy site for checking up on artists, discographies etc.
it is saying that advertising isn’t enough so please make a donation. That’s usually a sign that the end is nigh. If lucky, a splash of money comes in, then that runs out , they come back asking again, get less next time…..

Hmm, uncertain. I used to find the site a helpful guide, but, increasingly, our paths have diverged, they seldom bothering to offer reviews of my tastes. I get the weekly new releases link, it bearing little relation, say, to similar mails from Proper music, Resident Records and similar sites, who actually sell records. (Mind you, my taste is pretty niche.)
As is mine Retro!
There is a bloke Bruce Elder who bags a lot of the stuff I am into which is annoying. But, as I said, it can be handy.
Haven’t used it for a long time. Ads were a pain n the arse as they are on most sites that use them.
Resident, Cherry Red, ACE, Mojo and Uncut usually keep me updated on the stuff I am interested in
Same same. I go there from time to time, but seem to go to Discogs just as much these days. And the ads are annoying.
Used to go to AllMusic all the time for record and artist info, but I got sick of all the adverts and started using Discogs instead several years back.
Hardly ever used or use it and faced with swinging increases of 15% (mobile/broadband0, plus 20% (health insurance) plus the decimation of my freelance writing income, I;m afraid it’s a big no from me
Their sister site AllMovie is good for comedy value as the review ratings are heavily biased towards anything made in the US. Acknowledged classics of European cinema are awarded 1 or 2 stars as a matter of course. I find the site useless for a balanced assessment to determine if a film is worth watching or not.
