La Folie by the Stranglers. At the time I was unimpressed by this album but now forty odd years later it’s one of my favourites. I don’t think it was the songs so much as it was how they sounded. The production I guess. Much like beauty stab. I love them both now. Have you encountered this anomaly yourself?
Albums you initially dismissed but have since taken on a new appreciation.

Production breakdown? Or not?
Funny ok thing. Was only listening to No Mercy off Aural Sculpture yesterday. The album seemed tame when it came out, certainly no chunky bass lines, but it has its charms these days.
I knew the Ice Queen.
Blimey, Windy, that took me back. The godmother to both my kids was a huge fan of both the Stranglers and Ultravox at that time, then hearing the records far too often. Don’t think I have heard that particular trac for over twenty years, maybe thirty. And it’s great!!!! Thank you.
La Folie is a top album, Very bright, and Aural Sculpture too, Souls is a gem. Never really got into Feline, aside from Midnight Summer Dream and European female, rest of album leaves me flat,
Maybe thats one i need to revisit, possibly my least favourite Stranglers record.
You must! Make sure it’s unbearably hot and still and you are in a European capital. If that’s out of reach, close your eyes and imagine that you are.
