Some may of course disagree. But for sheer class from an artist at the top of his game, Jason Isbell’s new one takes some beating. The quality trails off a little towards the end maybe, but I’d be surprised if this doesn’t make it into the AW top 10 of 2020. Here’s one of the best tracks on the album, a guitar-led slice of 70s Laurel Canyon-esque melancholia with some insightful lyrics. What’s not to like?
