  14. After the first hole those missing in (in)action are Hawkfall, Big Stevie and of course the Baron. They (and anyone else) are welcome to join us any time, as long as they have the results. I’d have to run this past the stewards, but in theory there’s nothing to stop you crashing in at the 18th with 18 eagles. Wouldn’t go down too well though.

    • This, frankly, is getting ridiculous! It’s like you’ve all discovered the algorithm for Wordle Success. I’m a reasonably intelligent old codger and I’m sure if I really put my mind to it I could exponentially increase my gaming expertise but what started off as a covid diversion seems to have morphed into a somewhat soulless search for bragging rights and where’s the fun in that? I’m going to use XYLEM as my starter tomorrow, a birdie is on the cards…

    • See, that’s what I mean! Chiz has assaulted an innocent spectator just and only because he scored a measly par. Where are the fives, sixes and disasters of yesteryear? It was all so innocent back then, just a disparate group of hapless amateurs happy to be out in the open air, only occasionally getting lost and never, ever having arguments. Well, hardly any arguments – there was that time when *********************************************** (redacted redacted redacted).

      • It’s a professional tournament, Lodes. We’ve got ringers, betting cartels, dispute negotiators, the whole works. Do you have any idea what that four will cost me in sponsorship and central contract fees? Millions, that’s what.

        By the way – was anyone else here way into their 50s before they realised that the golf equipment brand Titleist is not actually pronounced Tit-leist?

    A flamboyant, crowd-pleasing birdie to end my round. Well, it would be crowd-pleasing if anyone was actually watching me – all eyes seemed to directed elsewhere. In an attempt to whip up some social media interest I employed an attractive young “influencer” as my caddie this time. Nice enough, but she spent a lot of time pouting, rather than helping me with my putting! She uses a platform called “Only Fans”. I think it’s marvellous that with-it tech-savvy golf fans have an app like this devoted to golf.
