Anyone with experience of going to the Cadogan Hall? It’s a new one for me and I’ve got tickets to see Richard Thompson there on the 23rd (£50 each!). The tickets say doors 7:30. Anyone who has been there before and might be able to give me an idea of when RT is likely to take the stage?

According on their own site it’s doors at 6:45 and the support is on at 7:30. When I saw Thea Gilmore there the support was already on when we arrived and not only were we not allowed into the hall until the song had finished, but because our seats were at the front we were directed to take house seats at the back until the end of their set.

It is a formal concert venue and is strict on start and finish times.
As Gatz indicates above, that the support will be on at 7:30, you can count on that happening. Support will get 30 minute slot. I think you’ll probably have a 15 to 30 minute interval and expect RT to be on stage by 8:30 at latest.
A few years back I saw jazz singer Ian Shaw at King’s Place, similarly a formal venue. His first set started at 7:30 on the dot. He played for 50 minutes, had a 20 minute interval and was back on at 8:40.
Just before 9:00 there was a bit of noise as latecomers arrived. Four or five people proceeded to walk down to the hall where they took their seats in the front row, in time to catch the final 20 minutes or so.
These venues don’t run to club hours. You’re expected to be on time.

Was there Friday & Saturday, just gone, for Big Big Train. Tips:
If the foyer bar is packed, nip down to the little bar on the left (as you face the main bar.) Comfy lounge opposite it, too.
The comfiest seats of any gig I’ve ever been to.
The sound was fantastic.
The staff are lovely.
The Antelope, (almost behind the hall) is a cracking pub.
Have a great time.
