The mainstream entertainmentising of metal really annoys me, but is an American thing, I reckon. Over here, it is also a mass entertainment but sufficiently embarrassing to keep out squares and cool types, leaving it to those who understand, metal muthas and grebs who don’t give a damn. Long may it remain so. I found Sonisphere a more social mix than Lattitude.
You appear to be using “…a pair of yummy mummies flirtatiously strutting their stuff at the office party” in some sort of negative sense there, KFD. I’m struggling to see how that could be in any be a bad thing. Some of my best friends and erstwhile colleagues…etc etc.
As for Hell’s Belles, the urge to say “Ding dong!” is entirely resistible.
Got it wrong there. Jeff. There is nothing more scrumptious than a yummy mummy having a strum.
But there is a difference. Whereas they will just twiddle around capriciously with the volume control, I suspect those girls from Hell’s Bells take a firm grip. And turn it straight up to 11.
Bear with me here, but as live vocalists, they’re both really good.. The only thing that lets them down is the toe-curlingness of the rock posturing, particularly by Celine. I think Anastacia gets away with it because she’s a naturally stylish person.

Reminds me of Crackerjack somehow. If Peter Glaze were still going, he’d be doing Metallica covers nowadats.
And the shoes are just simply wrong. Surely you are not allowed to play metal in footwear like that? Can you imagine Lemmy in high heels?????
Ha ha that Peter Glaze reference made me genuinely laugh out loud – absolutely spot–on. Possibly the best two sentences ever posted on the Afterword.
Far too kind @Jeff! But much appreciated.
But honestly! The two girls look like a pair of yummy mummies flirtatiously strutting their stuff at the office Xmas party.
This lot are a tad more convincing. And a lot more fun.
Hell’s Belles.

So sue me.

Hee hee hee, all kinds of giggling going on here, Dadster.
You like it turned up to 11 – Moose mutes it to zero. Every niche catered for here.
Celine Dion is a lot of things, but Rock Chick is not one of them. Very embarrassing.
I did watch that clip for another reason though. With the sound off.
Hurrr.
Celine Dion, the most sexless creature in popular music. Plus she looks a bit like Michael Schumacher.
She’s part Celery, part Mantis.
Those sleeves – Dye her hair white and she could be a Johnny Winter lookee-likee.
New singer already appointed.

The Booner. Not ‘arf!

There was this one, oh wait…

Something for everyone, everywhere. This site lists 153 ACDC tribute bands!

There are probably more Beatles or Stones tribute bands but that’s pretty impressive.
Here’s one of my favourites: Hayseed Dixie.
Anastacia’s cool, she would fit for me.
