I remember seeing Cassidy on the Celebrity Apprentice – the version with that loveable billionaire Donald Trump. If I remember rightly, he was funny and charming – a bit like Martin Short in Only Murders in the Building. Cassidy sort of gave up and left the show. In one task, they were up against some incredibly tight deadline and he’d gone outside to smoke a cigar!
It seems incredible that A-Ha had to record Take on Me as and when the Cassidy recording sessions had breaks to allow it. I remember them performing it on a Saturday morning kids show about a year before it finally became a hit. It’s good that the label persevered because A-ha are a great band.
Alan Tarney is a bit of a hero of mine and he was so huge in Cliff’s career. A-ha are such a brilliant band and still making decent albums.

DX7 is a synth, not a drum machine. Did you mean Yamaha RX11 or RX15 drum machine?
