The new single from Swedish pop sensation Tove Lo has just been released & I cannot get enough.
It instantly feels like a classic to me & like something I will be listening to in 10 years time, much the same as I felt when hearing Dancing On My Own, Shake It Off, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head etc.

Huge fan of Sweet Talk My Heart and, particularly, bitches (the song, rather than the misogynistic descriptor).
Plenty more bangers on that last album (Sunshine Kitty) too.
Best of all, this music is all done on computers by sinister Swedish Hitbots to enrage those who believe proper music involves calloused fingers and pissing in sinks..
You know what that song needs? Really slowing down, a strummed acoustic guitar, and a breathy vocal.

Man alive. Everything, and I mean everything, from the mind-numbingly appalling clichés of the video to the vacuous mindlessness of the lyrics is awful, awful and what’s the word I’m looking for ..? Ah, awful.
Each to his/her own I always say (except when it’s so dreadful you have to stand up and shout – “Look, no clothes!!!”)

If Tove was a toothsome American lass you’d be telling us that this is genius. Again.
The God That Is Swift made a couple of precociously brilliant C&W albums , got lost in superpop superstardom (whilst still managing to write a whole bunch of brilliant songs amidst all the glamour and all the glitter), got herself back together and with Folklore & Evermore made two of the best albums of the 21st Century.

Like much modern pop, I really liked it until the vocals. I am allergic to Autotune, unless Cher is singing.
I’m a 55 year old man who’d listen to that all day over anything by ver’Tull or anyone similarly beardy. It’s a cracker.
It is technically termed a belter. Great stuff.
