THAT Top of the Pops film from L.A.
Absolutely fascinating as always. I also enjoy the non-music history notes like the story of Nine Elms Lane.
I loved Supertramp at that stage, so really interesting to read what the background to the albums was.
I hope these all get turned into a book at some stage
Thanks @tropdevin. So do I 😉
Great read, as usual.
Seconded.
🙏
Thanks
Great blog Niall. For some reason I remember reading about Ramport back in the 70s – wasn’t the manager their road manager? John someone?
I must listen to Crime again. My own little Supertramp story is I was in a sort of musical review at college, singing with 3 girls. They had worked up a 3 part harmony of Long Way Home so the MD said to me “you do the harmonica part”. I mean, I had one, but everyone had one. I knew a seriously good harp and sax player and he gave me one lesson – how to play that lick on LWH. It came off fine and I’m still blowing today.
Great story!
Really enjoyed this one – particularly the Supertramp section as Crime of the Century was a favourite album of mine for many years.
Also the story of 5.15 which is up there as one of the best Who recordings.
Thanks Steve.
