This video, posted on Amanda Bergman’s YouTube channel on Friday, made me feel 100% happy.
And apparently it made a lot of cows happy too, as they were being serenaded by Amanda and The Tallest Man On Earth (her ex-husband) in a field on Amanda’s farm.
The song is called “I’ll Be A Sky” and is pure bliss, but the live performance in front of a herd of cows really is the icing on the cake! (Video in the comments)

I went to a nice restaurant in Cambridge last night. Delish. Tonight I’m going to see the Elvis in Concert movie which was filmed in the early 70s and never shown – it got lost in the archives then rediscovered during the making of of his biopic. Going by the trailer, which looks amazing on the big screen, it’ll be great fun. He’s largely forgotten these days but what a performance and what a voice.
Then on Monday it’s my birthday!
And mine, although I’ve just had a week off and Mrs F is going to be away working in Cork. I might knock off work early, though.
I’m sure the Offsprings will share a Chinese takeaway with me, if I pay for it.

I kicked things off by getting out of bed at 5:00 am and after running through my usual morning routine I hit the the mean streets of Cymru for my morning walk. I listened to the Gorillaz latest streamed outa Qobuz into a pair of Iems. Enjoyable and my now customary walking regime has worked wonders for recovering from my THR surgery. I’m currently sat drinking a mug of Vanilla and Camomile tea before making a start on prepping a sheet of 250gsm paper for what will be the first painting I will be undertaking for over two years. I am nervous but ridiculously excited at the prospect.

Will do probably over on BlueSky. I’m just getting the preliminary stuff out of the way today before making a solid start on the underdrawing tomorrow. I thought tomorrow was a good day to commence as Dewi Sant said “Gwnewch y pethau bychain.”
Paper has now been prepped and the dimensions of the working area has been delineated and a grid drawn out in faint pencil lines so all is ready for the fun bit to start tomorrow. I’m starting with a nice simple shape. A square.
Great news! It will be the best square you’ve ever painted.

No big plans for the weekend. I’m working at BIO REFLEXEN tomorrow lunchtime. A Canadian animated film for which we so far have not sold one ticket.
I might try and see Hamnet tomorrow evening.
Otherwise I’m going to sit and watch the snow melt. No more skaters on Lake Mälaren!

I won’t be doing anything worth reporting as “fun”, but I’m pretty sure I’ll have a very pleasant weekend doing nothing unusual. Dog walk, meals, siesta doze, bit of reading, films.
Most of the videos I’ve watched online recently have been very depressing, but this morning I watched a video on how to make a kale smoothie. And then one on how to open an avocado. Two things I’ve never done before. The kale smoothie, featuring kale (it’s in season, apparently), an avocado, a Granny Smith apple, a frozen spinach cube, freshly squeezed lime juice and (surprisingly) freshly cut pineapple, was very good indeed. Health factor plenty. I also came across a couple of YouTube chefs I now laud. One Italian (Vincenzo’s Plate) one Italo-American (Giovanni Siracusa), both speaking in English. The former is a great cook and very scathing but funny in his reactions to Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver’s Italian cooking. The latter has the best way of cooking pasta and peas (“pasta e piselle”) I’ve ever had (and I’ve had it roughly a gazillion times). The difference is in blending half the peas.
Interesting, sort of Mushy Peas Pasta…I’ve never heard of it before, despite being half Italian. Perhaps not cooked as much in the northern regions?
I’ll have to try it some day, but I’ll skip the kale smoothie…
I shall be planting out the snowdrops that have arrived this morning, picking up a prescription and then later I shall be hieing myself down to York for another evening with Eliza Carthy and friends ( I saw them last weekend but i was offered a return ticket for York so why not?)
I’ve never considered snowdrops something you plant…they just magically “appear” everywhere in spring, but thinking about it I guess someone must have planted them to begin with!
