I’d listen to / buy something by somebody called Greta van Fleta.
But nothing less than that. That’s it, that’s my limit. To have a name that’s so close to euphony and yet to not secure it… to not nail it down and thus secure it for everyone’s peace of mind and emotional comfort??? Well that’s just perverse isn’t it?
Standards: more important than ever these days, don’t you agree?
They’ve all obviously worn out their older brothers’ copies of the Led Zeppelin back catalogue. Now that’s what I call an education. Top riffage, great voice, crisp drumming and loping bass. Outstanding stuff.
God in Heaven, their parents should be reported to the authorities! Obviously a tragic case of being brung up all wrong; what a waste of all that talent…… dreadful, simply dreadful.
Their parents should be praised for bringing a new generation access to classic guitar based rock as an alternative to of all the shouty hip hop/grime stuff and the over polished pop music that pervades everywhere these days.
My work is done, the t-shirt is ordered. I love this place most for its musical/cultural diversity but jingsafuckinroonie that clip depressed the hell out of me.
As ever it’s all IMHO which opinion is no better, no worse than anyone else’s
I do get bored with this “one opinion is as good as another IMHO” etc. line of thought. If that opinion is expressed as “this sucks/rocks” or its equivalent, then yes, the one is as good as another, which is to say, valueless. If your opinion is argued from a point of view, explaining your reasons for holding it, then it becomes valuable and interesting, whatever the position held. The problem with most opinions expressed on the internet is (and this is just my opinion) that they are mostly offered as “sucks/rocks” votes, thumbs up or down, which reduces debate to “it’s all just opinion and mine is as good as yours”. Democracy gives you more than the opportunity to vote; it gives you the freedom to express an opinion. To do that you have to be able to gather your thoughts and make a case. Too much work for most of us – much easier to like/dislike and claim your “opinion” is worth as much as anyone’s. Yes? No? Sucks? Rocks? Like? Dislike?
Oh bah and double humbugs. I truly dislike the whole “classic guitar rock” shitck – that moment when Robert P or David C leans back, shakes his locks and does that falsetto nonsense thingie makes me vomit. But my vomit may well be your, thoroughly disgusting, chicken on a stick.
Is my opinion on this any better than, say, HP’s? At my advanced aged I would venture “Yeah, of course it is – HP actually thinks The Beach Boys and The Monkees are the epitome of Pop,he is clearly deranged”.
There’s a Jan & Dean song where the singer is telling us of his plans to leave home and surf round the world (or something), and at one point he lets it slip he’s singing to his mum, with the line “so just pack me my lunch and I’ll be on my way”.
Audience seems relatively unmoved…
Greta von Zeppelin Fleet would be a better name.
Graf von Zeppelin Fleet would be a greta name.
Wonderful, exhilarating stuff!
But I see your Great Van Fleet and counter with my Nelson Can; young hopefuls from Denmark
And just to shake things up a little , a techno goes yodel hit from Switzerland.

From New Zealand I give you – Alien Weaponry.
Start at about 4.28 in this clip to see and hear them play, then go back to the top and watch the interview
Thanks Mousey, that was great fun. 14 years old! The Maori language works very well in a metal song too.

Well, that’s rather wonderful isn’t it.
I’m listening to their debut ep, and it’s bloody wonderful. (Five stars at the Taxdodgers and over 200 reviews already- what a buzz!)
CD duly ordered here..
Pre-orders now available on an album as well!
That was excellent!

OOAA
What Wheaty said.
“A waste of talent” – quite possibly music snobbery at it’s finest.

Down arrow for Mr Words over here.
(I did like the song though).
😂😂😂😂😂😂

Honey, is you trippin’? I’ve never seen Robert Peston or David Cronenburg do that.
Ye Lodeftone of Wrongnefs be juftly yclept!
That’s very good. I don’t like it, but it’s very good.
When that kid sings about his Mama it takes on a whole different meaning

Hey Mama when you come on down
Can you bring my X-Box
When you come on down
Lyrics in hard rock are irrelevant to me.
The voice is just another instrument.
If I want meaning in lyrics I listen to Styx or Foreigner.
“If I want meaning in lyrics I listen to Styx or Foreigner”
ATS
If I wish to be saluted by my stereo I put Styx on:
“Domo Arigato, Mr Roboto”, they chirp..
If I want moaning in lyrics I listen to Donna Summer or Jane Birkin.
Irony doesn’t play out well on here does it!
I was being more ironic than you! So no. it doesn’t.
Amazing! They sound just like Led Zeppelin. What’s to like?
Move over, granddad! This is the young generation, and they’ve got something to say!
What? What are they saying? I can’t make it out because of all the screeching. He’s not banging on about lemon juice dribbling down his leg, is he?
You’ve a button missing on your cardie, love! You should ask Mrs Breakfast to look at that for you.
