At 5:00 p.m. (UK time) Songs From Under The Floorboards presents a Factory Records Special programme, travelling on a journey from the first record on that label in 1978, to its final release, just before going into bankruptcy at the end of 1992.
The show will take in, naturally, the big-hitters – Joy Division, New Order and The Happy Mondays – but also include some American Urban music, Algerian Rai, as well as a number of the (potentially) lesser-known names. Tune-in here to listen live on Thursday:
Also, I’d like to thank @fentonsteve for mentioning me and these shows in the Blogger Takeover thread.
*rubs thighs*
@biggles Any chance of it going on Mixcloud soon? I’m working until 5:30pm today. Those databases are best mangled with tunes.
“It is now on mixcloud” @fentonsteve
Hi.
Beyond my direct control/influence, but I have put in an “urgent request”…
Well, @biggles – that was expensive. Not quite Factory bankruptcy levels, but today I have ordered Kalima, Swamp Children, Cath Carroll and Fadela albums.
Somehow I only have the second Kalima album, and the rest of the tracks on compilations. Now rectified.
The intro and outro were both excellent.
Thank you, sir!
If anyone else wishes to share in @fentonsteve ‘s joy, you can listen again here:
The Cath Carroll album is great. I bought that after hearing Moves Like You on a tape I got free with Select
Great show, loved it.
Loads of lesser known things that hadn’t heard for ages. I quite enjoyed that last Happy Mondays single too despite the album getting such a kicking when it came out. The Wendys were pretty good, I saw them support Cabaret Voltaire and The Fall at Birmingham Town Hall a long time ago
