I was a little nonplussed by this track when I first heard it, though it has grown on me a bit since… however, the other new song from Byron’s forthcoming compilation, “I Thought”, an Eno collaboration, is tremendous…
I Thought isn’t new…it’s from 2002’s Frantic album.
There are though 4 previously unreleased songs included.
I really like both of these, been listening to then on Spotify for a few days now. Fair play to him for trying something a bit different. Anyone know if the She Belongs To Me cover is a recent recording or not?
It’s previously unreleased but not sure when it was actually recorded.
The new track Star is very good, and in another world I’d be snapping up the Retrospective super-deluxe. But as a long-time fan who has all his solo albums, at the moment I’d be paying £120 for what amounts to a nice-looking book and one CD of rare/unreleased songs. Though if the price drops to a realistic level…
I think it’s fabulous, and am stoked about the promise of a new collaborative album next year.
A new album, Loose Talk, out in April….a new direction….also a decent interview over on SDE
Rather odd though that Star isn’t included on the album….
Doesn’t sound too likely we’ll see any furthet SDE versions of Roxy albums though judging by his comments.
