The 1968 50th anniversary reissues keep coming. This week, it is Music From The Big Pink. Bob Clearmountain has remixed the original tapes and, by all accounts, has included some studio chatter. The Band asked producer, John Simon, to replicate the sound of The Basement Tapes. I always felt he overdid the under-production but it’s an essential part of Big Pink’s rustic charm.
Of course, I’m buying it but with some trepidation. I’m not sure a cleaner, chattier Big Pink will work. Any thoughts?
