Well as we’re back up is anyone interested in a 2015 London mingle?
They seemed to have fallen out of favour with many if the low attendance at the last one is anything to go by, but a it’s been a long time, so if at least a dozen say they are up for it I’m in favour of going ahead, in say mid to late March
RubyBlue says
Yes, for sure. Nice idea.
Phil Pirrip says
Definitely, if it’s towards the end of the month.
Rigid Digit says
Sounds like a splendid idea
(Can’t do mid-March though – plans have already been made for me)
Kaisfatdad says
Hey Locust, Pierre and DuCool!when are we going to have the first a Swedish mingle? I can hire a lakeside sauna and we can break a hole in the ice and take a dip. We might even see a moose!
Moose the Mooche says
I shall stand on my roof and point nor-nor-east. Best of British luck.
Carl says
Lakeside sauna!
I could be tempted.
Twang says
Yes, later in the month.
pencilsqueezer says
The light of my life and I are contemplating a wee visit to that London sometime this year probably when the weather settles into more Springlike behavior.
In all likelihood it will be midweek and include a fair bit of gallery visiting.
If any of you metropolitan hepcats would like to meet up and shoot the breeze over a calming beverage we would be delighted to meet up with you when the time comes.
I’ll post again when our cunning plans are afoot.
Beezer says
Count me in for cunning plan afoot update, please.
Phil Pirrip says
Don’t think for one minute you’ll get away without me buying you at least a cuppa and probably something stronger. Let us know when you are heading in this direction.
Leedsboy says
It would be an honour to buy you a pint – let me know when you’re around.
RubyBlue says
That would be lovely!
VincePacket says
As one of those Londoners, I’m usually game. @carl, are you offering to organise or do we need to all look pleadingly towards @hannah ?
Rigid Digit says
@vincepacket : ah, you’re a Londoner now are you?
Thames Valley not good enough anymore. Too cliquey, carrot crunching, country bumpkin like. The joys of Bracknell hold no sway now.
VincePacket says
I bridge the divide between country bumpkin and sophisticated city dweller. I may have a beard. And braces. I plan to be at the Thames Valley mingle in March if it happens.
Twang says
I’d be delighted to meet Pencil too. I’m a bit constrained cos I’m working out of London, but needs must!
davebigpicture says
A cautious yes although work has meant that I haven’t been able to make it at the last minute a few times.
Beezer says
As ideas go it’s a beautiful one. I’m very busy in March with work and family things however with most Fridays (Mingles tend to be Fridays) claimed, so I very likely will be a non-starter
I hope it happens though.
niallb says
Count me in, if our mad diary permits. Friday nights aren’t generally not too bad. Be lovely to see everyone.
Pencilsqueezer, we’d love to meet up for a sherbet.
pencilsqueezer says
Aww shucks. It would make our trip dahn sarf truly memorable to meet up with some of our favourite folk, in fact it would become the focus of our trip.
I’ll let you all know when we have some details. Bless you all. Most touched.
Leedsboy says
I’m up for it. Which gin palace should we go for?
ganglesprocket says
Squeezer! Let me know sir, I’d be honoured to meet you.
Mike_H says
I’m usually up for mingling, and the return of this here blogthingy sounds like a good reason. Especially if those Sophisticated Squeezers are in town. Count me in.
Carl says
I’m pleased to see such a positive response.
Should we consider a new venue? I’m OK with organising something.
I would also like to try and meet up with the Squeezers when they come down.
Sid Williams says
Dagburnit! I just JUST booked a flight over to see Dad on the 8th, literally 15 minutes ago. The missus keeps on about when I’m going over to see my “internet friends” again (she makes me feel so young) and I have quite missed the mingles, or at least knowing that they were there for me to plan trips around.
Anyway, maybe next time – or maybe I can find another excuse……
Good to see you all again.
Twang says
Take it away Carl. Sensible connections to Kings Cross and decent beer and I’m there.
Rosbif says
I am totally up for a mingle, Fridays are good for me as I’m usually working in central London until 6.30. Would love to meet Mr & Mrs Squeezer too.
Martin S says
Certainly in favour. Mind and body are willing but logistics are often weak
hubert rawlinson says
Down in that there London now, for a few days. Would be up for another visit.
Malc says
Sounds good to me. For those who haven’t seen the Twitter discussion, the Thames Valley mingle looks like being on March 6th.
Rigid Digit says
March 6th? Should be OK – count me in.
Let me venue / time etc and I will mosey on over
(hopefully, Mrs D hasn’t made alternative arrangements for me)
Mike_H says
Don’t do Twitter these days, so missed the call. Where is it? Same as last one?
Steerpike says
I would make every endeavour to be there
VincePacket says
I can work in town so I’m good for most nights for Squeezer visits and mingles.
timtunes says
Hey, why not?
Aard Stryder says
If you want it near Kings Cross the Betjeman Arms (in the St Pancras complex) does a good range of beers and decent food – and you can even book a room for a nominal cost (i.e. if you spend enough on food and beer, nowt)

retropath2 says
G’wan, I need some London joy, and keep on meaning to manage one of these mangles
drakeygirl says
I’d like to echo retropath’s “g’wan” and add several more Mrs Doyle-style “g’wan, g’wan”s of my own.
Twang says
Sounds good. let’s agree a date quick as it makes planning easier back at the ranch.
Carl says
Who knows how to set up one of those poll things?
I’ve never done one, but I would like 1) to propose dates of either March 20th or March 27th
and also 2) a poll on aard-stryder’s (were you known under a different handle before?) suggestion of The Betjeman Arms against the old location of The King & The Queen.
Or you can just vote here and state preferred date and venue and I’ll count them up and we’ll have come to a decision by the end of next week.
Aard Stryder says
I was a lurker under a different name on the old Word blog, wasn’t on AW MK1, but have been butting in (under my family name) on Facebook
Twang says
Do you mean a Doodle invite thing like we use for the podcast?
Michael says
http://doodle.com/en_GB/
YTDS says
I’m up for a mingle
