I tend to like most music, or at the very least appreciate it & look on it kindly. Some things might not be for me (Dua Lipa, Busted, Van Morrison* for example), but I do get why others would be enamoured with it & thus show it the respect deserved.
However, todays Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify has thrown up a doozy & I felt obliged to share as it could well be the worst song I have ever heard. The song in question is called ‘Everywhere Is War’ & is by a band called ‘The So So Glos featuring Conor Oberst’. I class myself as a bit of a fan of his band Bright Eyes so i was reasonably excited to here what a this would be
Before clicking on the link, just have a quick read of the bands bio on Spotify & see if you can marry this to the godawful song in any way:
Influenced by the punk energy of the Clash, the garage rock of the Stooges, and the ’60s pop of the Kinks, the So So Glos are a politically charged punk outfit from Brooklyn, New York
*this is a joke. I am not actually a huge fan of Van, but I included him here for dun!

Apologies for the rather mean-spirited post. But it is quite rare that I dislike a song as much as I have this one. I also showed it to Mrs S who agreed & actually laughed out loud when reading the description

The internet recommends music »you might like« that actually isn’t very likeable Shock Horror.
😉 This made my day.

I don’t own a record with a “Parental Advisory” sticker on it – I did, it was a CD single by The Rolling Stones, it was awful, and I have no idea why the sticker was on it ‘cos the lyrics were impossible to decipher anyway. I think they just put it on there for kudos.
Another useful tool for a sly sidestep away from the product.

Turns a post about an unrelated song into a dig about post sixties Stones. Takes a certain perverse genius I suppose. Or was this posted on the wrong thread?

Sounds like a reject from Adam and Joe’s Song Wars. The vocal delivery is obviously aping Mick Jones.
Gives me another reason to not get around to listening to the Bright Eyes CD in my collection that I haven’t got around to listening to for thr past 20 years.

I’ve got over of those too.
That description in the OP would put me off straight away TBH.

I will give this a listen later, but I do feel your pain. A few years ago, Robbie Williams did such a terrible song that I thought it needed its own thread. I felt better afterwards.

I haven’t listened to it, but it’s a shame if someone was to avoid hearing “I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning” on the basis of an association with this song. That LP is a masterpiece.

As is Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was – took a while to get into it, though.

I saw The So So Glos once, supporting The Hold Steady.
I was impressed enough to buy the album, remembering especially Son of an American.
They were very much in the vein of the Spotify bio, and not much at all like the song above.

Thank you @bobness
I like this one & it is much more like the description.
