I know there are a few Tedeschi Trucks Band fans on here (who probably know this already) – they have just announced the release of Layla Revisited…..
‘Introducing Layla Revisited (Live at LOCKN’), a 2-CD, 3-LP live album of an instant classic concert, with Tedeschi Trucks Band joined by special guests Trey Anastasio and Doyle Bramhall II for a top-to-bottom performance of the classic Derek and the Dominos album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, live at LOCKN’ Festival on August 24, 2019. Layla Revisited (Live at LOCKN’) will be available everywhere on July 16.’
I have this on a bootleg and it’s fabulous – looking forward to the official release.

I can imagine that would really be quite a treat. One day I must get to see them.

NOW that’s what I call drivin’ music. Glorious.
At around 6:35 you reach over and crank it up as the band lays back to let Derek and Trey slow things to a quiet rest. You want to hear the final noodling over the road noise as you take the bend away from the ocean just a little way before Bixby Bridge. The track lands gracefully with a gentle close, and your pulse rate returns to normal. Onto the bridge, and then just as you get to the apex of the big wide concrete span, they launch into Have You Ever Loved A Woman, the volume’s still way up at eleven, and you nearly lose it as you frantically scrabble to wind things back to a surviveable decibel level, grinning to yourself.

I know from experience that these covers of whole albums by someone else only ever lead me to want to play the original. Not being neg but I find it inconceivable it will be as good as the original. But I’ll give it a try on Spotty.
Junior Wells says
@Twang , in fact the original of this song is not as good as the live version.
Feedback_File says
Not my thing normally but that is really fucking good ! The original album kind of passed me by back in the day and now I’m off to check it out.
Twang says
I agree it’s a great version.

As much as I love this band…I dont think I would play this more than once before reaching for the original…I just hope this isnt a new trend…nah not for me.
Junior Wells says
I bought an album by a Dylan copy band called Highway 61 – how often do you reckon I’ve played it?

I sought out the bootleg and jolly good it is too. I’m less in the camp of better / worse and more inclined to see it as more / extra / as well as

What’ll you do when you get lonely?
If by lonely you mean that my wife is not in the house, I will usually knock one out.
