I’ve spent the day reading every obituary, every memory from fellow musicians and every tribute to my hero, Neil Peart.
This is the best thing I’ve read all day and it has reduced me to tears.
Phil Wilding, radio producer and writer, says it perfectly.
RIP, Professor.

I just read this myself online, it’s a lovely piece of writing. Michael Hann’s obituary in The Guardian was very good too:

I’m finding this news has hit me harder than I thought – he really was one of the genuine good guys.

Maybe the snide ‘received wisdom’ comments about Rush from some rock journalists are now seen as the sly mendacity they were. Paul Morley and Barry Miles, oh so cool and hip. Yawn.
