Thanks, Paws. I did what I could with the resources I had. You never know, it might get some traction news-coverage wise somewhere or other. Certainly, it seems to be getting around on Facebook.
When the Belgian politicians took months to form a government, their wives went on a sex strike to get them to sort it out. Nothing concentrates the mind better than the promise of a spot of the other at the end of a difficult shift.
I wonder how the (DUP – of course) man who has so far received £69,700 specifically for his role as speaker of the assembly while not having spoken once in 20 months looks himself in the mirror? Does he think, ‘Yes, I am standing firm for democracy, righteously receiving my due reward while doing damn all for the public, my employers’? Or does he think, ‘I wonder can Ian Paisley put a word in for me with those guys in Sri Lanka?’
Fab song, Colin. Very punk, very angry, very populist.
Whilst a slow burn social media campaign will appeal to everyone else on social media, surely you are savvy enough to shift your point directly to and via NVTV/RTE.
Funnily enough, we bumped into the people who run NVTV earlier today – while out filming the double A side video, by Petesy Burns’ ARSE! Petesy seems to know everyone in Belfast. So yes, we should get a slot. I’ve sent info and links to various BBC news and UTV people – including Newsnight and This Week. Who knows…? Glad you like it, Attacker! I tried to summon up some of your legendary venom! 😀
He teaches Tai Chi, Tiggs – as can be seen from 2:40 on in this trailer for a splendid DVD docco on the Outcasts:
Petesy’s energy in a recording studio is phenomenal – there was no messing about. We arrived, barely got our coats off and were straight into two takes. That was it – Take 2 was the one. Then the overdubs were pretty much two or three takes. Lonesome Chris’ lead solo was take 3 – but really, his first two were just warming his hands up after entering the place!
Brilliant! Unfortunately it seems impossible to shame politicians into making the right thing – shame must be the one luxury they can’t afford to have…
The interesting thing about the Northern Ireland Assembly pay issue is that’s not party political – even though one can choose one of two parties to blame for the Assembly collapsing, ALL of the 90 MLAs from ALL parties are willingly accepting their full salaries – no one has offered to take the moral high ground and shame others by donating to charity etc. So I’m voting for NONE of the scumbags next time around. They are morally bankrupt.
Thank you, Lando! Here’s Petesy’s ARSE in action with a cover of SLF’s ‘Suspect Device’ – the great Donal McCann on drums was also on ‘Smash the System’:
Colin, you know the words SLF and NI Punk are like catnip to me.
Here’s more Petesy (plus a Stiff Little Finger, an ex-Stiff Little Finger and a Defect) performing the National Anthem
Smash The System – also shared in Facebook SLF group
Now available for download, should anyone require it, along with ‘Steppin’ Stone’, recorded at the same session by Petesy Burns’ ARSE (there’s also a video for this track on YouTube / elsewhere on the AW):

Excellent!

Thanks Mike. Hopefully I’ve managed to simplify the otherwise impenetrable world of Northern Ireland politics. In brief, they’re all bastards.

But they will never let history go unforunately.

Great video, well done. Hope it helps (can’t do no harm).

Perhaps someone should do something like this with our rotten (bankrupt) council. Best of luck, sir.

Could you please explain who is who, which the petit-bourgeois and which the grand-punk?
Colin H says
Well… er, no!

This I think is the way forward.

Love the video. Nice hair, Colin. That Pete can rattle an axe. What does he do for a living?

Thank you, Rij! Though I don’t see it in the SLF FB page… there can’t be more than one, can there?

There are 4 that I’m a member of.
