No, not the Police track but one of those moments that seem to have been scripted somewhere else – driving home yesterday, after the storms, IPod on shuffle, ‘Thunder & Lightning Kid’ by Man closed, the finishing note blending perfectly into the start of ‘Chain Lightning’ by Steely Dan. Everything matched – musically, thematically – even the band names rhymed! Any other examples of perfect combos?

This happens quite a lot. One of my favourites a while ago was Roger Waters’ 4.30 AM (Apparently They Were Travelling Abroad) being followed by Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing. So the changeover went:
– I lay down beside her with tears in my eyes. She said:
– Get up, get up, get up, get up.

Not quite the same because the iPod was creating a genius playlist, but it recently followed Shonen Knife’s ‘Cycling is Fun’ with Pink Floyd’s ‘Bike’. The segue worked very well.
