I saw Mr Wylie live, a year or two back, as support for someone or other. Basically him, a guitar and backing tapes, he now whatever the opposite of a shadow of his former self is. Quite good, if a little sad to see.
I also resent the fact that someone I thought so highly of in the last century, is younger than me.I am sure he wasn’t then.
He was on tour recently, but I didn’t go.
Back in the 80s I loved Wah! in its various incarnations. The guy I shared flat with felt similarly and we saw them a fair few times and they were always great.
I feared past glories could not be revisited. I am glad that I didn’t go if the show is that poor.
This still remains one of my favourites. Remember him this way –
When I lived in Montreal there was a listings magazine that had an annual poll, Local boy Shatner had won “best actor” for many years in a row, that’s Canadian irony.
I am pleased to report he is in good health and on good form. Saw him and his youngish band just a week ago at the Deaf Institute in Manchester.
I thought I only knew 3 songs (You probably know them too) ) but it seems he has more ear worms than that. Lots of political barbs and funny scouserisms. A born front man .
There are few others who seem to have brushed up against every individual or band or event from that time in Liverpool. A biog would be fab. Jayne Casey is another one who’s always interesting to listen to.
Strange that such a clever songwriter never became a big star.
I do like a good sleeve design. However:
Don’t use the box!
What from album this is?
*shrugs*
Bof, encore!
It’s from the Sinful album.

He doesn’t make it any easier by changing his name for every release.
Too late. Gone off him already.

Does he currently sing “90 Seconds To Midnight”?

@carl
See my post just below ⬇️
I should also add that a work colleague saw him a few years ago and it was ropey, just him and a guy with a laptop
Also: 96 today – The one and only Captain Kirk!
He’s “only” 93.

Best bassoon too.
Thanks. That was the number in my head but the other number came out of my fingers..
“Too” is not a number. Neither is “bassoon”.

Well worth seeing.
As I mentioned NME C81 just t’other day, a crucial influence on my musical taste in my yout’, I have to say this awesome track was always a highlight.
Never knew I shared my birthday with Wylie! I did know I shared it with Anne Marit Katzenjammer ( Any excuse ect ect)
Happy birthday Uncle Mick.
(curiously I’ve always wanted to say that. No idea why)
Live your dreams Moose!!!
Oh OK, I’ll just get on a bus completely naked then.
we have had so many biog’s from that great era of music but I would love to have one written by Wylie, i bet it would be a blast
