The midfield engine-room of the CD swap, @kid-dynamite, has posted the track listings that he has received right here, right now.
We’re nearly there spacers, but there’s a few more things to do before the parachutes pop and we splash down on episode 3 of CD swap. 1. Anyone who’s not sent out their CDs hop on it. Your swap buddies are waiting! 2. Get listening now to the goodies you’ve got and post your reviews here: http://theafterword.co.uk/cd-swap-iii-in-space-no-one-can-hear-you-review/ we’d really like them in by mid-September. 3. Send your track listings/liner notes etc to @kid-dynamite and @moseleymoles for the big reveal in three weeks or so time.
Sorry to appear twice in the blog feed, but you have only two days left to sign up for the current edition of the Afterword CD swap: themed around Space. I won’t repeat the process, but if you can burn a standard audio CD and get to a post office we want you. Sign-up here, or check the set-up and your registration at the Space launch post (see what I did there..) below. After 5pm Sunday @kid-dynamite will be putting all who signed up into the Pod Bay and launching you in groups of three to boldly swap, I’ll stop now. Anyway, 5pm Sun please for sign-ups.
A gentle reminder to those taking part to do the following: If you’ve not sent your ‘it’s cold’ CD – 12 tracks – to the others in your group do so asap. If you’ve received them but not let your swap buddies know it would be nice if you could. If you’ve not yet received a CD that someone has told you they’ve posted and should have arrived, drop them a line.
If you’ve not sent us your track listing please do so.
If you’ve not listened to your received CDs – again, time to do so, so that:
1 March or thereabouts we will start a blog post for you to post your blind reviews of each other’s efforts. Get ready to claim that that obscure prog jazz track is just genius….
Then after a fortnight or so myself and @kid-dynamite will post your track listings so that obscure prog-jazz genius track may turn out to be by Shed Seven…
If you can tear yourself away from the BBC Sport coverage, there’s another much more important deadline today which is the second Afterword CD swap. We’ve had a good sign-up for round two, but if you’ve missed it then the post is here:
Just reply in the comments and the swap, organised by @kid-dynamite and my good self, will include you in.
We are back back back baby. New Year and a new (well the second) Afterword CD swap is go. We need you to sign up now. We hope you enjoyed the summer’s debut run out, now it’s time for that difficult second swap. You may have noticed its been a bit chilly, well here in the UK. For our Southern Hemisphere brethren its all passing out out on centre court in 40 degree heat. Anyways, the theme of the second CD swap is that its cold. You can respond to the theme in any way you like: lyrics, artists, titles.
The CD swap is once more by your hosts @kid-dynamite and @moseleymoles. If you didn’t get your full quota of swaps last time let us know in a DM, and we will put you in a group with two (hopefully) reliable sorts.
We’ve tried to keep the rules to a minimum to make taking part as easy as possible. For those who’ve never done one before, a CD swap involves you making a compilation, posting it to a couple of other people, who post you theirs. How it all works is in » Continue Reading.
Swoppers – it’s your last chance to post your blind reviews. Convinced that bleeptronica track must be Elton John’s alter-ego? It’s oooh the missing link between Whitesnake and The White Stripes – yes must be White Lines. Get posting as @kid-dynamite is going to drop all the track listings at the end of the month. Those where all reviews are in he’s been doing as we go, but the gate comes down on 31 Aug! Been fun eh.
Here’s a gentle reminder that the deadline for posting your CDs is fast approaching. So if you have been umming and ahhing between Start or Start Me Up then make your mind up and get burning!
What happens next? We’ll post a series of blog posts – one per group next week with you tagged in them. Then it’s over to the three/four of you to post your blind reviews and exchange pleasantries. End of August we’ll post the tracklistings to the same group posts and you can go dohh or get in!
A quick reminder your CD is a single CD, standard audio rip, 12 tracks without titles and artists. Theme of Beginnings. We have had a discussion on a previous blog post about how to anonymise your tracks, mp3tag appears to do a stand-up job on this, including artwork.
Any questions here or to me or @kid-dynamite.
Ok it looks like from various postings that the swaps are starting. Please do send yours out by the end of July, to give everyone plenty of time to listen to your mastermix and formulate their thoughts before the listings go up at the end of August.
The admins are working on a sensible way to group all the tracklistings.
Please DM us your tracklistings – I have one already. By all means add a few comments either per track or about the CD as a whole, but remember to keep it relatively brief for the OP. You can expand in the comments to your hearts desire.
Finally a request: I have a fairly standard windows 10 machine, with itunes and Mediaplayer. Can someone post an easy guide to making your mp3’s anonymous (ie with no info) bar Track 1, Artist 1. I have a lot from emusic and though I rename the file and can drag it into Windows mediaplayer the cover art that will not disappear. Would it reappear if someone listened to the CD through itunes?
