Author:Matt Richards & Mark Langthorne
There have, of course, already been more than a few books about Queen and in particular the life and death of Freddie Mercury.
This new work retells a familiar story but tellingly places it within the context of the AIDS epidemic of the eighties/nineties. It has some revealing new interviews with associates, and includes previously unpublished photographs, as well as a number of untold anecdotes.
The story of the rise Queen is very well known by now, as is that of Freddie Mercury, and these two strands run parallel throughout this book, along with a third strand, the insidious worldwide proliferation of the HIV virus.
By looking with a different perspective, the authors have tried, and by and large succeeded, in shedding fresh light on these, at times, tragic events.
An interesting read for Queen fans and completists.
