I must say this pleases my dark heart. That this rag exists and “The Word” doesn’t is a travesty of what is true and good in the world. It was mostly a singularly boring read, and I’m not sure if it’s focus on Woodstock-friendly singer songwriters then dull American bands playing catch up with UK indie made it any better. it is about as interesting as the freesheet NME (is that still going?). Then there are the legendary album reviews…

Which one ? Is Mick more expensive or Keith ?
I’d buy Charlie (the person not the drug)

Let’s have an AW whip-round and buy Charlie (Watts). He may not be as good a drummer as Bongo but he has better dress sense.
Bearing in mind that afterwards he wouldn’t be our drummer, we’d be his blog.

Don’t think I’ve ever read a copy but whenever I’ve seen on in the racks from the cover it seems to be entirely about US politics and current affairs and the occasional article about REM or Neil Young.
Yes NME still exists but as an unwanted heap of Junk mail – with members of Alt-J modelling the latest hip brand of trainers

“We have made great strides transforming Rolling Stone into a multi-platform company”
Really? I can only think of the magazine. Is there a TV channel or film production company I’m not aware of? Or are they just saying that they have a web site and Twitter account?
And lastly, given that I’m on Facebook and Twitter am I multi-platform?

It does have a web site, but it’s full of click bait and unwanted pop ups. Avoid.
I read the magazine and quite like it actually. It’s fairly mainstream music wise and left leaning politically, which makes it an easy read.
I don’t buy it though. It’s on Readly, so along with mojo, uncut, acoustic guitar, playboy and the likes, I don’t have time to do anything else but read.

I was a subscriber for a year or so about 8 yrs ago. Was a stupid offer of about $15 for a year. It was pretty bad. Seemed to be a ratio of about 2/3 adverts to 1/3 content in a very thin magazine, music articles were perfunctory and review section a joke where every album by a favoured artist (U2, Springsteen, Jagger etc) got 5 stars regardless of whether it was any good or not.
