@disappointmentbob, if you love 90s dance music as much as you like Robyn, you should like her latest collaboration project; La Bagatelle Magique. It started as a collaboration between her and Christian Falk, and when he died last year Markus Jägerstedt stepped in to help finish it, the EP is out now and this friday they performed at the Popaganda festival. I was there, and danced my socks off with an audience of close to 11000 people, they say, turning the afternoon into a night at the club (sort of).
(I’m still waiting for her to get into the studio to record new stuff on her own though…)
Here’s “Set Me Free”:
And here’s a video from the Popaganda gig, “Love Is Free”:
And, since this thread IS about 90s dance bangers after all, here’s Christian Falk feat. Demetrius, “Make It Right”:
Anything on Boys Own or Guerilla records from 1990-1993 – essentially banging! I can taste the Sol, smell Heaven and feel the eyes widening already. Good times
It’s funny, I get more of a nostalgic rush hearing some of this than I do when, say, “Motorcycle Emptiness” pops up on the radio (as much as I like it). These tunes take me back to putting out pants at eight o’clock on a Saturday morning at Marks and Sparks – someone had some compo of these they played out to keep us moving.
Anyway – might as well stick one on while I’m here. Altogether now:
“Da da da ba doom doom da da! Da da da ba do doo da da da!”
I am so pleased that Set You Free is loved so much round these parts. It’s a proper goosebumps tastic, embrace your neighbour, euphoric, rock hard diamond of a bangin’ choon.

What a cloth eared numpty I was in my mid-late teens – used to trun from these tunes rather than embracing them and having a proper dance.
I might send a few of these over. Let’s start with the Bucketheads – The Bomb
Milkybarnick says
Trun? Oh well. Have this too, off the Blackcurrant Tango advert.

Hmmmm… I think 1996 may have been the latest you could possibly get away with a music video that looked like that.
Native says
This is still epic – remember it well from the Gallery and he Warehouse in Leeds in the early 90s!
ganglesprocket says
Someone has already posted The Bucketheads so here’s another Masters At Work “joint”

Fabulous tuneage, folks – thank you! Some great stuff I’ve not heard for years here.
@milkybarnick, I know what you mean – in my earlier teens I was all “I’m not dancing to that”, but luckily I bucked my ideas up in sixth form 🙂

Can’t post the video just now, but Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You was a great dance tune.
JustB says
It really was. Do I remember a Daft Punk connection?
davidks says
Yes, Thomas Bangalter co-produced and co-wrote the tune.
He is one half of Daft Punk.
He’s the one with the robot helmet….oh, right.

This thread is great, but it’s all downhill from Set You Free, which is literally the highpoint of all music.
Bingo Little says
My thoughts exactly. Every time it gets posted on here it grows in my estimation.
It should be our national anthem once we finally topple the royals – imagine a packed Wembley Stadium singing along to that, eh? Goosebumps.
JustB says
Yeah I was slightly worried I’d threadkill by posting it so early on. I’m pretty sure it’d prove to cure cancer too, if you gave it a shot.
*has moment of genius*
It’d certainly be more effective than Placebo, anyway.
*chortles with delight at own wit, forever*
