Awful news. Goodbye Jumbo was a classic and an album I played to death. Loved all his World Party stuff and was hoping that there was more to come. The last interview I read of his (about 2 years ago) he was […]

They’re on tour as support to Simple Minds over the next few weeks. Which is unfortunate if you are not really into Simple Minds.

I was lucky enough when I moved down to London in 1981 to befriend a guy who was a Brentford fan, so often popped along to Griffin Park to watch the Bees. Fond memories of a midfield trio which included Terry […]

I have been reading the Jack Logan series on my Kindle over the last year. J D Kirk is the author I believe. Very Scottish noir, but some laugh out loud moments. Similar to the Stuart McBride, Logan McRae […]

The Lewis Trilogy – I found all three excellent and made me want to visit the Isle of Lewis, such was the way he described the place. May has written plenty of other series as well. I like the Enzo books set in France.

Retired at the end of the month so that sort of overshadowed everything else. Kindle reading on the way to work, the Inspector Logan series by J D Kirk. Plenty of laugh out load moments at the banter – and only […]

Yes. Down by the Old Mainstream and a very good compilation “Stay Golden, Smog” which is probably an ideal starting point.

Saw them in Belfast a couple of nights before Dublin. Was blown away by how good they were. Having been underwhelmed when I saw them at a festival a good few years ago and struggling with a stinking cold I nearly […]

Fair made my weekend to see the message about a new album from The Eisenhowers. Haven’t had chance to listen fully yet, but the snippets I’ve heard seem to be up to the usual standard.

I loathe the thing. Contrived competition thrown together for the very reasons that Steve W elaborates on. Hasn’t been picked up by any other countries and is highly unlikely to. Why would they when they have 20 […]

Saw them a couple of weeks ago in Belfast. Sadly with 9 of them on the small Limelight stage we didn’t get the usual dance-a-long to Boy with the Arab Strap, but was still a great night out. Thought the set-list […]
