Terrible news. He was an incredible talent.

Macca’s bassline on ‘Something’ is a song in itself.

Er…before you panic…the Bowie thing is just an album apparently…not a box. Still on my list though…

I listen to the Beatles fairly often and, when I do, I always try to imagine what it must have been like to hear it at the original time of release. Difficult, if not impossible, to shut out the subsequent years […]

It’s great. The therapy/meetings scenes are up there with those on Saxondale.

Barry John was great in many ways but perhaps one of his greatest achievements was in briefly making rugby as cool and as sexy as football.

My late mother in law Lillian lived in the same block of warden-assisted apartments as Barry John and was often seen in his company chatting and going for little walks. She said he was a lovely man. She had no […]

I used an old fashioned ‘cut throat’ razor for a few years. You had to take it slow, especially on those tricky upstrokes, but you got a rare sense of achievement afterwards- especially when, after a while you […]

‘Quo’ was always my favourite too. Although ‘Piledriver’ is a close second. I loved the honky tonk vibe of the former and the sheer wondrous boogie dumbness of the latter. I liked ‘Hello’ too mind. Only not quite so much.

Oh, I so hate it when generations get along musically. It’ll be the death of rock and roll. Mark my words.

I’m sure she’s great but I really can’t be arsed with contemporary pop. And that’s exactly how it should be.
