I once came back from holiday to Heathrow, and saw a green woodpecker on the grass outside the Hilton on the A4. Doesn’t sound much, but I was well impressed.

They did a “gig” at a conference I was at in 2018 at the IOM (the week before the TT as it happens). I bet they spoke to everyone in the room afterwards. I got a quick, very bad, selfy for my mum, but they […]

Looks like there wasn’t much room left for actual performers when the grand piano, double bass kit and guitar stacks were wheeled on…

Ooh. I saw Goya Dress supporting Aimee Mann once, they were very good indeed, enough for me to buy the album. I was at the Garbage gig at Rock City not long ago, (checks, it was 2018) where Shirley apparently […]

Just goes to show, eh? I really really like this album, bordering on love it. Magnificent, swaggering beast is a very nice way to describe how I think of it.

Ey up Tim, welcome to the nicest corner of the internet. Where people respectfully disagree, then break bread, on the same day, often in the same post and where suggestions are never in short supply. Good to […]

My mum played that album to death. She taped it with a record jump on the first track and for years I thought that’s what it was supposed to be like.

Wrong Heart song, What About Love is far better, to these ears. The big omission is surely High Enough by Damn Yankees.?

As an accountant well used to stocktakes, I was already quite familiar with the word “fungible”. Great word it is too.

A little off topic, but a recent TV show said that when Aston Villa won the league in 1981, they did so without a single international player in their team, and only used something like 14 players all season, 7 of […]

Some lovely words above. A sad day for any sport lover, as has been said, he belongs in that echelon of sports people where his name alone was enough. It’s hard to imagine this kind of thing being written about […]
