Hello everyone, great to have the AW back – HUGE thanks and congrats to all those who grafted under the bonnet for the past few months doing technical things and weilding a kind of magic about which I have no conception whatsoever.
But speaking of weilding magic, isn’t it about time we reintroduced the Mahavishnu Orchestra around here? I mean, half a day in to the new regime and there’s not one single MO posting!?!
Here is a fabulous recently discovered 1973 TV highlights thing filmed at Seattle in March 1973. (Go on Leedsboy – it’s not even 20 minutes of your time!)

Hello Colin, I’ve missed you very much!

Well I got to 8.35 before giving up, it wasn’t taking me anywhere – probably because it wasn’t going anywhere.
That was my first attempt at listening to them , and I’m not sure I will repeat the experience, they were everything I feared they were.
Colin H says
I’ve missed you too, Mini…
Good on you, Ted, for trying. Can’t say fairer than that… Still, the voice-over guy at the start is impressive, isn’t he?
FauxGeordie says
Hi Colin! Enjoyed your book! Will be in Belfast a few times over he next couple of months though I am not sure when yet – will let you know.
Colin H says
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!
Great news FauxGeordie – I look forward to your visit to these distant shores from Far Off Geordie Land. I can say nothing more appropriate than ‘Let’s Get Together Again’, as these dodgy geezers (thankfully without their leader) put it on a TV show called ‘The FauxGeordie Scene’:

Okay, the youtube embed thing didn’t work. Let’s try a url:

Grafted under the bonnet, hur hur hurrrr

I’ve been reading your name in the Georgie Fame book.
Colin H says
That almost sounds like a threat (‘I know where you live…’)! 🙂
let us celebrate with the Fame-ster live in Prague, 1967 with Jon Hiseman on drums:

That’s just my Glasgow accent! Thanks for the Fame. That flute just screams ‘niiiiiice’ though.

That was so good there should be some more: http://youtu.be/YvVj1I44H7s

Now it really does feel like home – the mighty Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Woo hoo.

Well I can confirm the time limit on edits works. So a new post it is then. Just watched the footage Colin. Great stuff really love the McLaughlin work. For mine Goodman can be a bit too frenzied live but here he is great. Love the free plug for Adidas on Hammer’s t shirt. Wouldn’t happen these days.
I don’t really get the comment that this music doesn’t go anywhere. Where is it supposed to go ? Is the only means of direction in music to have a verse chorus ,verse chorus, verse chorus bit of a build up then drummer arms aloft and a last thump of the drums?
Colin H says
Interesting you say that re: product placement. I was watching a (really terrible) episode of ‘Midsummer Murders’ last night, set at a folk festival – for which read ’12 people in a beer garden and extremely unlikely artistes’ – where DI Barnaby looks something up on the net… using a search engine called Big Browse. Is Google really not allowed to be seen on such dramas…?!
Moose the Mooche says
I use Big Browse every day.
I won’t bother telling you what for.
Junior Wells says
The ABC avoids brand names was this on BBC. Sounds silly though.
So who did it then Colin ,
Colin H says
I don’t know: I watched only the first hour. I shall watch the denouement tonight. Whoever did it, the real criminal is the idiot who came up with the script. Suspicion also rests on Seth Lakeman who perpetrated ‘The Ballad Of Midsummer County’, a song used as a plot device throughout.

*Sigh* Ah, Colin…don’t ever change, baby.
