One of my pals, Mark McCluney, has recently started posting quirky 5-6 minute videos on YouTube giving woodwork tips, drinking tea, and spreading world peace – from his shed in County Down, NI. The videos are good fun and well-edited – this one features Mark making a rustic door-handle, a PC table thing, and a small goose, to a soundtrack of hillbilly music, gypsy jazz and cool blues, with a sprinkling of gentle wit.
If you think this might be your thing, take a look – and if you know anyone who might be interested, spread the word.

I would love this guy’s talent. I am shit with wood. And with power tools.
This, and to be able to play jazz piano.
And to be able to run fifty yards. Or even twenty. Or ten.

I’d love to have Mark’s talent too! He’s an extraordinary multi-instrumentalist – guitar, blues harp, bluegrass banjo, mandolin, a bit of cello… plus a comedy sketch-writer and science-can-be-fun demonstrator of yore.

Oooh, lovely, thanks Col, will check this out tonight. I’m doing a chair-making course in November, love working with wood.
