Those really nice Amazon folks who we all love dearly, are offering Deke Leonard’s “Rhinos, Winos and Lunatics” and “Maybe I Should’ve Stayed In Bed?” at £5.99 apiece. Both very much worth a read if you have a Kindle or similar device. I believe the paperback versions are also available again for sensible money.
They’re also offering Bob Harris’ autobiography, “Still Whispering After All These Years” (crap title, Bob), Neil Munro’s “Some People Are Crazy: The John Martyn Story” and Annie Nightingale’s autobiography “Wicked Speed” at very low Kindle prices. Are these 3 worth a read?

The Deke Leonard books are amongst my alll time favourite mucis books. You don’t have to be a fan of Man to enjoy them, though you’ll almost certainly want to dip in once you’ve read them.

Also Bedsit Disco Queen by Tracey Thorn (very good) and Anger is an Energy by John Lydon for £1.99

Currently enjoying Lydon’s “Anger Is An Energy”.
I ended up getting “Bedsit Disco Queen” and “Still Whispering…”. Gave the John Martyn book and Annie Nightingale’s book a miss, getting John Neil Munro’s “The Sensational Alex Harvey” and “Deke Speaks” by Deke Leonard instead. I also grabbed Neil Gaiman’s “The Ocean At The End Of The Lane” while I was there.

I’ve just finished Harris’ tome. I love Bob. Love his radio shows. Loved Whistle Test. But christ, that book’s a poor read. Full of Partridge-isms, scattergun approach to stories, little heed of a narrative or timeline and really, really badly written. Sorry Bob.
