Did you lot know about this? And, if you did, couldn’t you have found some way to let me know so I could let myself down gently (certainly, The Guardian didn’t -Jimbo’s ugly mug is still on top). I’m already reeling after the departure of Jack O Brien’s odd staccato style from the presenter’s chair on the Cracked podcast (although at last the GFW maintained its usual standard this time. The Cracked podcast hasn’t been the same since JOB left). Can’t see any of the usual guest presenters doing the gig full time, so who will be the long term replacement? Thoughts….?

Oh, that’s a pity. He was only on Stuart Maconie’s 6Music show last week talking about the podcast.

Hopefully he’s left in protest against the ridiculous, obscene Neymar transfer.

Not listened since I gave up being interested in footy a few years ago but I used to really enjoy the quality of the contributors – Jimbo, Barry, Raphael, Barney, Dr. Sid etc.

Funnily enough, I clocked a couple of weeks back that James Richardson is now presenting a new movies podcast for Little White Lies magazine. In each edition they review a couple of new movies, and one old one. It’s worth a look (they recently lavished praise on Terence Malick’s “Tree of Life”, so they have my vote).

Am I the only one who finds Richardson immensely annoying? I came across him when he used to front Eurosport’s Tour de France coverage, where it was clear that he knew nothing and cared less about cycling. Fortunately, these days, since the full takeover by Discovery, Eurosport has a budget and has made huge strides in its cycling coverage. Richardson, as I recall, also fronted Channel 4’s coverage of Italian football – and he was just as annoying and incompetent there.

AC Jimbo has gone off with producer Ben and Iain Macintosh to create a new football podcast. No idea why: there are already too many out there.
I might be in a minority, but I like Max Rushden. The Guardian podcast has an established audience, so I’m sure it’ll survive.

Well that’s a shame. My interest in footie has waxed and waned the past few years (and some transfer business this summer has left me saddened rather than excited). But the Guardian football show is the one podcast I remain subscribed to, and that is mainly due to Jimbo. Oh well.
