I have never heard of the band Purson. They are playing a pub venue in my home town next weekend. This is the sort of music I crave and yet I have stopped searching out, let alone going to watch. Have I gone soft in my slippers and granddad vest? Someone give me a digital kick up the arse please.

Great band, You should buy Classic Rock Beany, they were on one of their sampler CDs a few months back. Classic Rock CDs are usually 80-90% dire, with bands with names like Black Cherry Country or Albatroth. However this one had Purson and Goat on it. Result!

That was very agreeable. Good find.
No kicking from me I’m afraid. When beer costs ten quid a pint ( as it does in some pubs here) and gigs sixty quid a shot, is it any surprise that one is not out and about more?
But. A pal of mine saw four bands for four quid in Brighton recently. The ticket was cheaper than a pint. Explain that!

It must be strange for a band so young to be fixated on a style and sound from half a century ago? When The Beatles were fixating on stuff sixty years before them on Sgt Pepper…at least it was seen through the prism of a glass onion so to speak. Purson seem to just want it to be 1967 again.
Not that there is anything wrong with that. I do too sometimes.

Unless they’re singing about iPhones.

Go see them Beany, I saw them at the Prog2 Festival in `14. They are very good live and nice people, they sat at a table next to us after their performance asked if we enjoyed the show.

Wow , thanks for reminding me about this band! I chanced upon them when they played in support of Howling Bells (iirc) at The Lexington around three years ago! After the gig, a couple of them including the lead singer were loitering around outside, so I approached them to find out what they were called and to say how much I’d enjoyed their set and was surprised to discover it was actually their first ever gig! Surprised because they seemed so confident and accomplished as if they’d been doing it for years. For some reason though I never followed them up so thanks for putting them back on my radar 🙂
