What does it sound like?:
Between 2013 and 2015, Fish hit the road with his Moveable Feast tour, promoting his then newly released Feast Of Consequences album. This four cd live set contains two complete shows recorded a year apart, in October of 2013 and 2014 respectively.
As you’d expect, the set list leans heavily on the Feast album, which was his best and most consistent work for a long time, continuing the return to form that began with its predecessor Thirteenth Star. If anything, those songs are even better when performed live. Scattered among both shows is, as you’d expect, a few pieces from his earlier albums and some old Marillion favourites. There are powerful versions of Script, He Knows You Know and Incubus for fans of early Marillion , while lovers of his solo work will enjoy an epic performance of Vigil. A slight criticism in that it’s a shame great long pieces like View From A Hill and Fugazi only appear in much truncated form as part of a medley.
This package is beautifully presented in a hardback cover and has a super informative booklet with detailed notes from the man himself.
What does it all *mean*?
Fish promises us one more album once he’s recovered from his current health issues – if it has the same energy and quality of material that is on offer here, then it will be well worth waiting for, and will be a fitting farewell after his long career.
