This story hurts me because I was there when Paul got his award.
In 2002 they got the award for best single (“Don’t Stop Movin'” WELL DESERVED.) Well, when the award ceremony was underway they were not actually at the ceremony itself. NO THEY WERE ON TOUR AT GLASGOW AT THE SEC, ENTERTAINING THE PEOPLE WHO PUT THEM THERE.
I know this because I was watching them, at the actual SEC, and the gig was interrupted so that they could get give the award live on the TV programme.
Yes, I was at an S Club Seven gig. Don’t judge me, I bought the ticket on the day. I had never been to a teenybop show in my life, I was curious, I judged that as a man going by myself, with no young children, I might get a ticket on the day, and I did. Obviously I had no idea they’d all get a Brit Award though.
So on my first, and only teenybop gig, the thing was interrupted by the Brits. Frankly this just made it all better. To be perfectly honest, there were problems with the gig, which can be summed up as “S Club’s management seemed to think the guys were the talent when blatantly they were not” also as “DON’T COVER BOB MARLEY”
But at my only teenybob show, Brit Awards were handed out and I was in blooming Glasgow.
I wish Paul no ill. I hope selling this sorts his immediate problems out. But genuinely, were I a rich man? I would not pay money for his Brit Award. Despite these happy memories.
He always seemed to have a troubled relationship with the whole pop band thing. I remember him wearing a Sonic Youth t-shirt fairly early on, while in the final days of S Club he’d put on weight and was clearly refusing to do any of the dance moves. Weirdly enough, he was going out with Hannah, who pretty much epitomised it all.

I agree – the Brit should have gone to Steps.

The highest bid so far is 65 grand? Really? I’d like to see their feedback before I believed that one was real.

I’d prefer to see their psychiatric report!
But… you’re not thinking of bidding for it, are you, Yorkster? 🙂

Now, I might be wrong, but didn’t Dane Bowers try something similar (selling off his stuff) and get the same kind of offer only to find it was fake?

Judging by the pic in the Guardian he might need to pay for the final few treatments of his surgical transformation into Charlie Higson.
