Our fearless leader @drakeygirl has obviously been too busy running marathons, swimming the channel etc to keep this going in 2017. Thought I would post something as we are a 1/3 of the way through the year and I was wondering how people were doing (and I wanted to brag).
I think last status was here:
I posted this asking about 5:2 diets here:

So I started the 5:2 thing 3 months ago and weight just fell off for a while. I am continuing and while I am sure I am a bit over the allotted 600 calories per day it is still going pretty well. Most weeks I do 2 days, occasionally 3. Generally I eat hardly any bread or pasta and not much alcohol (took January off).
As winter has finally ended here I have started running in earnest again and last week did 3x5kms. I am feeling the fitness returning and plan to up it to 7 or 8K this week with the aim of doing my first 10K of the year in the next 2 or 3 weeks. My aim to swim throughout winter and/or use treadmills didn’t happen and I stopped playing squash when my blood pressure was found to be high (bit better now).
So far this year I have lost about 16lbs.
Anybody else keeping it up?
Uncle Wheaty says
I have lost 2 stone since last September through regular daily walking and not eating breakfast.
Works for me.
dai says
Excellent! How much walking?
Uncle Wheaty says
30 minutes a day at a reasonable pace.
The reward is the sandwich I buy halfway through the walk…never more than 450kcal.
Lodestone of Wrongness says
As posted before did 5:2 for around 6 months and lost nearly two stone. Since then am doing 6:1 which, amazingly, allows me to eat & drink more or less what I want in return for one 500 calorie day a week.

That’s good. I think that once one gets to know one’s body regarding calorie intake it becomes easier to regulate what you put into it.

Lack of replies means hopefully that everyone who previously contributed have reached their targets rather than given up.

Hi, Dai.
Well done on the running.
I’ve been going a bit stir crazy as I had a foot injury and had to have about eight weeks off from the usual exercising. Back on track now with swimming and rather slow running while I build up my fitness again. Sticking to 5k runs for now but will build up speed and distance again gradually. Touch rugby and squash is helping improve cardio fitness. The injury was an annoying way of proving how much I enjoy my sports – I missed them like crazy and felt horrible and lethargic without them. Loving getting those buzzy endorphin back.
Looks like you lot above have been doing fantastically well by taking the best route – doing what works for you and sticking to it.
dai says
Yes, that’s very tough. Glad you are getting back to your normal exercise schedule!

Had a bit of a difficult time and put on 15lbs or so of the 3 stone I lost in the early part of last year. Been back on the healthwagon for a month and have mostly knocked it all off again, which is pleasing.
It’s just – as last year – eating less thanks to Myfitnesspal and doing a fuckload of exercise. I cycle 70-80 miles a week or so, and do various weighty things at the gym three times a week. I’m fitter than I’ve ever been, and by July am aiming to be lighter than I’ve ever been as an adult. On course so far.

Very impressive to bounce back after a difficult period.

Well good to hear that everyone is still trying things that are working. I’m doing my second organised 10k, the Birmingham 10K unsurprisingly, on Sunday. They have ‘music waves’ and as I was late booking I am in the ‘Pink Seventies Wave’. Will report back on what that means.
dai says
Good luck with that!

Well just finished, good weather – including a backwind on the tricky uphill section by Selfridges. Finished in 1hr dead which was pretty much my aim. Ridiculous amounts of people of all shapes and sizes. Disappointed not to run round the outfield at Edgbaston, just round the outside of the stadium. What, 8000 people might damage it? I moved myself up to the green 80s wave, which made chuff all difference, just a staggered start thing. Running music: Discovery by Daft Punk, started half-way through so the big 4 tracks come at the end – 61:20, perfect 10k album.

Well done! Good time, I would be closer to 70 mins.
