What does it sound like?:
This long overdue twenty three-track compilation brings together Can’s singles plus some rarities and pieces of film music.
If you’ve never experienced before the sounds of this influential band, then this is a good place to start. Although he music here rarely troubled the charts as such, there is much to learn and admire in these pieces of music. Their only UK ‘hit’ I Want More is here, along with its B side And More, as is the first album release of Turtles Have Short Legs. A great deal has unfortunately been edited to make it ‘single’ length, for example you get only a flavour of super epic pieces such as Halleluwah , Future Days and Hunters and Collectors, but hopefully they will persuade listeners to go and check out the magnificent full length versions.
What does it all *mean*?
During their peak years, particularly with the run of albums from Tago Mago to Future Days, the band blazed an unstoppable and unforgettable Krautrock trail. Their influence was reflected in any number of bands over subsequent years, and still continues to reverberate to this day.
