Has there been a review of this? Did I miss it?
It’s absolutely fucking amazing. A revelation. Talking mainly of the live performances which I am still wading through.
I first saw him in Birmingham in July 81, a few days after the Earls Court show that is included in full (in the big edition). This was when he was including some classic tracks rather than just the Christian songs. I had somehow removed this show from my memory. Putting it down as an aberration and happy to see a more normal Dylan at Wembley in 84.
That show was (partially) captured on the “Real Live” album which is no one’s idea of a great live album. The live material on Trouble No More is revelatory, Bob is as passionate as at almost any other time in his career and, dare I say it, this era is only challenged by the 66 tour for peak live Zimmy. Funny how it took me 36 years to fully appreciate it …
