Afterword favourites Sun Kil Moon played the Barbican the other night, as reviewed by Uncut scribe John Mulvey. Things took a sour turn when SKM mainman Mark Kozelek performed an ad-hoc misogynistic ditty about Mulvey’s colleague Laura Snapes, containing some pretty unedifying slurs.
Personally, I love Sun Kil Moon and I’m able to separate the art from the artist, but my opinion of Kozelek has certainly plummeted.

My opinion of him had already plummeted after his very churlish and infantile online goading of The War On Drugs’ Adam Granduciel. I have several Sun Kil Moon albums, but find Kozelek to be a something of a self-regarding boor.

Agree with you Jim about separating the art from the artist. If I was unable to do so, there would be a lot of artists I wouldn’t be listening to. For what it’s worth I think John Mulvey has only taken umbrage because she is a personal friend of his.
Having said that I postern here about manners so I really should take offence too I guess. the World is full of contradictions.
I have his new album on it’s way to me as I post this – he can write songs that’s for sure.
The War on Drugs thing started as a joke and got out of control – maybe he has some kind of disorder?

Inability to write a good song disorder? I know he’s a flavour of the moment with his dull as ditchwater memories of excitements ocurring at Flyover State Highschool in 1975, but why? Heck, I subscribed to the mythology and bought the last one, luckily on e music so no great financial burden.
If we go quiet on him, ignore him, will he go away.
(In a delusion of grandeur, no doubt there will be a song about me on his next: hey, Mark, the name’s Lion, Tiggerlion………)

He does have well documented issues doesn’t he.

A piece by Ms Snapes about the incident.

I do like his music. Shame he’s such a hopeless human being.
