Cor blimey strike a light guvnor! MP3s included too!
I thought it was a bargain a few weeks ago at £20-odd. This may be a mistake so act quickly, friends.
Thanks a lot ip33! The postage was more than the CD. But the whole thing cost me less than a pint in the kind of up-market drinking holes that DuCool and I frequent.
Bought, ta! Be interesting to see if it ever arrives. They have a policy of subjecting you to endless tales of supply problems if they have boobed badly – in the end you give up and cancel the item, usually noticing as you do so that it’s mysteriously available at a higher price and in stock.
10.35 and it’s back up to £17.93 – expect an “oops” email shortly.
That’s still good value, but not worth taking a blind punt on.
It does seem that these cheapies are offered overnight & then the following morning someone takes a look at the sudden big sellers & puts the brakes on.
I guess it comes under ‘invitation to treat’. Essentially, a sale is a contract made up of an offer and acceptance. The advertised price is not the offer, it is just an invitation to make an offer of that amount which the vendor can then accept or decline.
I’ve sent a mail, see what response I get. Worth a go. It says dispatched in 2-3 days at the higher price. I’ve just had one of those weeks really. Just looking for one small victory!!
login to your amazon account, the page where “order” is the first section near the top, scroll to the bottom right hand corner, “let us help you” section, at the bottom click on “help,” go down to “browse help topics,” select “need more help,” then “contact us.”
It asks you to put in your order number but as that’s been cancelled it wont appear so you need to refer to your email confirmation, or just list the item as pretty sure they’ll have a record and know why you are contacting them,
once you’ve added comments or responses to the questions you get the option to email, receive a phone call or chat via messenger.
its a bit of a faff, there maybe an easier, if there is someone please let me know but I can see why people don’t want to contact them, Worth an email at the least.
Firstly, I haven’t bought this set but I’m wondering how this autorip thing works. When I buy a cd from amazon, it automatically downloads on to my pc, phone and tablet. It downloads onto an SD card on my phone and tablet in a section called ‘music’. It’s not left in my amazon account though I realise it’s still there if I want to stream it(I don’t stream). If I’d bought this set, how can amazon take the files back? Obviously they can delete them from my amazon cloud, but the files on other devices??
Just quickly on the legal element; I’ve not looked at Amazon’s TCs, but I’m guessing they’ll specify that the contract with the consumer is only entered into at the point of delivery – their listing of the product is an “invitation to treat”, the consumer’s order is an offer and delivery represents acceptance.
Even failing that, given the fact that the discount is unusually large, they would probably challenge on another of the basic requirements of a contractual commitment – intention to create legal relations.
Translation: unless they’re feeling generous, they’re extremely unlikely to honour that sale price.
I wonder how it works. Perhaps by telling their friends about the anomaly, Person A also alerts Amazon thanks to the increased interest. If Person A keeps schtum maybe they stand a chance of having the product delivered at the anomaly price.
Nobody has done any wrong here, this is no different than the superdeluxeedition alerts to bargains, altho in most cases those aren’t mistakes or certainly don’t lead to cancellations.
Anyway, haven’t heard anything back from amazon yet.
I complained via email, they responded saying sorry but “please read the conditions of sale.” I responded saying I understood but amazon were still at fault for mispricing, the error was not mine, I am now the one who is penalised, what will they do to rectify this? They then responded to apologise again, said they’d raise internally but in the meantime offered me £10 off my next order. Which if it was the same item (now £17.93) would mean id get for pretty much the same price anyway!
I’ll take that. A small victory. I buy enough off them for christsakes so if you feel inclined its worth a few emails.
FWIW, its on Spotify. I’d never heard of it before but have spent the afternoon with it noodling in the background, so there’s a royalty Mr Waters wouldn’t have had otherwise.
No royalty payable to ol’ Rog on any of this AFAIK.
The titles of the boxes, albums and individual tracks are just joking references to ver Floyd.
The music is all original compositions by messrs Schulze & Namlook.
Amazon must have changed their policy on pricing mistakes, because that unfeasibly cheap 17-disc set of John Martyn’s “The Island Years”, that many of us here gorged upon a while ago, is still there in my Amazon cloud.
I got a refund. I’m actually pretty impressed with the swift resolution. If I was the complaining sort, I could probably have pushed for an apology and a voucher, but hey ho.
Here’s a cut and pasted transcript of my online chat with the fine people of Amazon…. Why do I get the feeling this was all one person pretending to be different people? (Did someone say sock puppet….?)
Initial Question: Hi. I made this order on the understanding it was £3. Now it turns out that was a mistake, but the order was fulfilled anyway at £34.99 because I had made use of the autorip immediately. I don’t want the order at £34.99! I wouldn’t have autoripped it if I knew that! Can I cancel the whole thing?

How can I help you today?
06:07 PM BST Lakshman: Are we still connected ?
06:07 PM BST: Hi Lakshman, I’m looking to cancel this order. I’ve been charged £34.99 when I understood it to be £3.
06:08 PM BST Lakshman: Are you referring to this order number “D01-9556143-4830320” ?
06:08 PM BST : Ooh hang on, let me check….
06:09 PM BST: That’s the fellow.
Yes.

06:11 PM BST : Hi Kailish!
Oops, sorry, Kailash.
06:11 PM BST Kailash: Are you referring to the order – D01-9556143-4830320 ?
06:12 PM BST : How did you guess? Yes, that’s the chap.
06:12 PM BST Kailash: I got the order number looking at the previous conversation.
06:12 PM BST: I see.
06:12 PM BST Kailash: I see the order is for – The Dark Side of the Moog. Am I right?
06:12 PM BST: Correct.
06:13 PM BST Kailash: The order is successfully refunded. The refund for amount 34.99 GBP will be reflected on your payment card with in 2-3 business days.
06:13 PM BST : Oh, great. Is that it cancelled then?
06:13 PM BST Kailash: Yes, that’s all done. Is there anything else I may assist you today?
06:14 PM BST : No thank you. You’ve been very helpful. It’s a shame because I thought I was getting a real bargain there. Have you heard Dark Side Of The Moog?
06:15 PM BST Kailash: No, I haven’t had a chance yet. I will try it out later.
06:16 PM BST : Great. Another fan! See you later Kailash. Please pass on my thanks to you and your colleagues, Rehan, Ankith and Lakshman. Bye!

Thankee. Bought 2 copies. Extra is a birthday present for a chum. Cheaper than a charity shop.

Almost certainly a mistake – which they won’t honour. But you never know…

The Autorip MP3s have appeared in my Amazon Music library so I’m fairly confident that it may be pukka.
Fingers crossed!

If anyone’s downloaded the mp3s, look out for a charge, if this is indeed a pricing boob that’s not honoured.

Just got the “we made an error” cancellation email, and the autorips have vanished from my cloud.
You can do the dance now, Poppy!
Poppy Succeeds says
I’m glad I hadn’t sent the email ‘cos then I’d worry that it was me who alerted them to the error.
Don’t they have to honour it? Isn’t there some sort of law?

Feel like arguing this. Has anyone else? Will give it a go and see what happens. Amazon have been known to give in before. Unlikely but a go.

I got the same. Cant be bothered arguing it, I’m sure they’re in the right.
Still, I autoripped the download on to my amazon kindle. Will be interesting to see if that disappears!!
