There’s this thing happening down here where quality bands perform songs on trams on an impromptu basis (well for the Tramways Board anyway.
This is a nice one esp as they were the band I hired for a 60th party at the local lifesaving club.

Hoped they clicked on with their Myki cards

Those Teskey boys are great. Fine song.
You seem to have created the most niched thread of all time, Junior. Bands on trams would be narrow. Bands on trams in Melbourne is the apogee of esoteric.
Here to bump you a little are
Frightened Rabbit on a beach in Australia.
The White Stripes in a bowling alley. (Multi-tasking Jack even does a bit of bowling mid-song.)
And of course, Richard Thompson in a taxi

This is my local tram – the 86 – by far the busiest route in Melbourne.
However, the ‘impromptu’ nature of the concert is somewhat compromised by the fact there’s not a single passenger on it. Even ‘Kevin’, an infamous character with one arm, who noisily eats Arnott’s biscuits whilst intimidating schoolgirls, is absent.
He’ll be mightily pissed off about that…

Looks pretty late, perhaps the last one to the depot @garyjohn

You folks in the outer ‘burbs JW! The 86 runs all night, every night! I’d say this is one with the sign that used to say ‘Not Taking Passengers’ but now calls them ‘customers’.

Lived inner most of my life. Over the traffic these days. I looked at quite a few of those clips and they all seem to have regular passengers surprised by the goings on.

Will a Melbourne train do?

A clip with Melbourne trams in it

There’s playing on the back of a truck in Melbourne

Never get sick of this clip. One camera on the truck and another up on CBD building. Think it cost them about $200 to film.

However, it looks like there will no longer be horses.

This seems to be something of a Aussie thing. Going east to the land of Concheroo, here are the Junkadelic Brass Band performing in a train in Perth.

Forget the tram. There cannot be many better places for a thirsty band to play than inside a brewery.

Over to San Francisco for a clip that fades in (very) slowly.
Not much room left for passengers in this streetcar.

A slight detour. That SF band were playing A-Ha!
A quick google revealed that Take on me is in the repertoire of any self-respecting brass band these days. Good thing too!
Brass bands are invariably marching bands. Here are the Hot 8 Brass Band offering some Sexual Healing in Brighton for some reason. Stupendous track even if they don’t nmake use of the local bus service.

They did this in Gothenburg a few years ago, to promote their silent electrical buses. This is from the Zara Larsson session – I wanted to post Seinabo Sey, but the only one I can find on YT now is one where someone is commenting in Spanish…
Lots of people getting on and off the bus and their reactions seems pretty genuine.
Kaisfatdad says
Thanks Locust! I’d not seen those and and they were great fun. As you say the reactions of the passengers looked quite genuine.
Glad to see some Swedish public transport on this thread.
Kaisfatdad says
Sadly they haven’t played on a spaceship. But Public Service Broadcasting did play the London Space Centre.

There are no trams in the desert, so little chance for Tinariwen to play on one. Not many trees in the desert either, so for them to play in the woods near Deal must have been equally exotic.
It looks like a 60s festival except that now there is decent food and no brown acid.
Some rather nice photos…
